Canopy Hoist
20170006784 · 2017-01-12 ·

This disclosure relates to agricultural canopies used primarily to control the amount of light and/or moisture and/or heat reaching growing plants within the canopy footprint. More specifically, it relates to mechanisms for pulling a flexible canopy over a support structure and then for removing the canopy to uncover the structure and the plants below. The mechanisms include an arm mounted rotationally on a base. When the arm is rotated in one direction the canopy is pulled over the support structure and when the arm is rotated in the other direction the canopy is pulled off the support structure.

The plant protector may comprise a plant shield and a handle. The plant protector may be placed adjacent to a plant in preparation for using a lawn maintenance tool. As a non-limiting example, the lawn maintenance tool may be a string trimmer. The plant shield may protect the plant from being damaged by the operation of the lawn maintenance tool. The handle may be adapted to be grasped by a user while placing the plant protector. The length of the handle may telescopically adjust to be longer or shorter.

A rail element is provided having a longitudinal axis, a first longitudinal end and a second longitudinal end longitudinally spaced from the first end along the longitudinal axis. The rail element includes a rail body longitudinally extending between the first longitudinal end and the second longitudinal end, the rail body defining therein at least one longitudinally extending first lumen having a longitudinally co-extensive transverse first opening, the rail element being configured for being mounted to at least one longitudinal support member in load bearing contact therewith in operation of the rail element. The rail element is configured for being mounted to the at least one longitudinal support member in a non-longitudinal manner A system for covering an area incorporating such rail elements is also provided, as well as a method for using such a system.
