GRAFTING DEVICE
A grafting device including a rootstock holding unit and a scion holding unit both provided in a main body and relatively movable in a predetermined direction, at least one of the rootstock holding unit and the scion holding unit includes: a hand module including: a grip portion configured to be openable and closable for gripping a stem of a plant; reciprocating portions an operating rod and a slide plate provided between the grip portion and the main body and capable of reciprocating; a motion converting portion configured to convert reciprocation of the reciprocating portion into an opening/closing motion of the grip portion; and a biasing means configured to bias the reciprocating portion in any one direction of the reciprocating movement; and a drive means provided in the main body and configured to drive the reciprocating portion in a direction opposite to a biasing direction by the biasing means.

SEEDLING-CUTTING APPARATUS, AND GRAFTING APPARATUS HAVING SEEDLING-CUTTING APPARATUS
A seedling-cutting apparatus includes a pair of arms that is to nip a portion of a stem of a seedling for grafting and that can be opened and closed and a blade that is provided so as to be capable of reciprocating relative to the portion of the stem. At least one of the pair of arms includes a through hole or a cutout that penetrates a portion of the arms along a direction in which the blade reciprocates. At least a portion of the through hole or the cutout faces the portion of the stem and at least a portion of the blade moves through the through hole or the cutout.
Grafting apparatus, sowing apparatus, grafted seedling production method, and grafted seedling production system
A grafting apparatus includes plate-shaped grafting members each provided with, on a main surface on one side in a thickness direction thereof, at least one plant holder to hold a plant for grafting. The grafting apparatus includes a cutter and a joiner. The cutter is configured to cut a stem of the plant for grafting that is held by the at least one plant holder of each of the grafting members. The joiner is configured to mutually join at least parts of the grafting members, while the at least one plant holder holds a part of the plant for grafting that has been cut by the cutter, to thereby mutually join parts of the plants for grafting.
Grafting apparatus, sowing apparatus, grafted seedling production method, and grafted seedling production system
A grafting apparatus includes plate-shaped grafting members each provided with, on a main surface on one side in a thickness direction thereof, at least one plant holder to hold a plant for grafting. The grafting apparatus includes a cutter and a joiner. The cutter is configured to cut a stem of the plant for grafting that is held by the at least one plant holder of each of the grafting members. The joiner is configured to mutually join at least parts of the grafting members, while the at least one plant holder holds a part of the plant for grafting that has been cut by the cutter, to thereby mutually join parts of the plants for grafting.

CUTTING TOOL
A cutting tool is provided. The cutting tool is comprised of a body, the body including a first wall, a second wall and a third wall, each of the first wall, the second wall and the third wall extending generally upward from a base, a blade holder; the blade holder including a first side and a second side, a trough, the trough formed by the intersection of the first wall, the second wall, the third wall and the base, the trough sized to seat said blade holder, a strut assembly, the strut assembly including a spring, a blade, a blade channel, an angled body channel and wherein the blade holder is rotated relative to the body to enable the blade to cut through a plant stem or tree branch present in the blade channel and the angled body channel.
Method of Stem Grafting and an Apparatus for Performing the Method
The invention relates to a method of stem grafting a scion to a stock, wherein an end for grafting of an element chosen from i) a proximal end of the scion and ii) a distal end of the stock is shaped to result in a shaped primary end, and the end for grafting of the other element is provided with a complementary a cut-out. To achieve stem grafting conveniently and reliably, the primary end and the secondary end at least the cut-out of the secondary end is obtained by machining using a milling bit. The invention also relates to an apparatus for performing the method.

Compared with the conventional method, the method of the invention not only can realize good seed quality, but also improve the seed-setting rate, and has a remarkable effect when applied to Populus deltoides artificial hybridization.
