Barley Plants with High Limit Dextrinase Activity

The present invention provides barley plants, or parts thereof, having a high limit dextrinase activity. In particular, barley plants carrying a mutation in HvLDI gene are provided. Furthermore, plant products prepared from said barley plants, or parts thereof, are described as well as methods of producing the same.

STEVIA PLANT WITH HIGH CONTENT OF REBAUDIOSIDE E

Provided is a plant having at least one of genetic characteristics (A)-(E) below. (A) Alleles in which the base at the position corresponding to position 40 of SEQ ID:1 is C are homozygous or heterozygous. (B) Alleles in which the base at the position corresponding to position 21 of SEQ ID:2 is T are homozygous or heterozygous. (C) Alleles in which the base at the position corresponding to position 28 of SEQ ID:3 is T are homozygous or heterozygous. (D) Alleles in which the base at the position corresponding to position 59 of SEQ ID:4 is C are homozygous or heterozygous. (E) Alleles in which the base at the position corresponding to position 64 of SEQ ID:5 is T are homozygous or heterozygous.

Rice grain with reduced ROS1A activity

The present invention relates to rice grain with thickened aleurone. Also provided is a rice plant comprising at least one genetic variation which reduces the activity of at least one ROS1a gene in the plant. Grain of the invention, or aleurone therefrom, has improved nutritional properties, and hence is particularly useful for human and animal feed products.

INBRED WATERMELON LINE WDL0090

One embodiment relates to seed and plants of inbred watermelon line WDL0090. Another embodiment relates to the plants, seeds and tissue cultures of inbred watermelon line WDL0090, and to methods for producing a watermelon plant produced by crossing such plants with themselves, with another watermelon plant, such as a plant of another genotype, or with vegetatively propagating said plant. Another embodiment further relates to seeds and plants produced by such crossing. Further embodiments relate to parts of such plants, including the fruit and gametes of such plants.

LOW-METHANE RICE

The present invention relates to a rice plant material capable of reducing methane emission by reducing organic acid, such as fumarate, secretion from the roots of the rice plant. The reduction in organic acid, such as fumarate, secretion reduces the amount of methanogens associated with the roots of the rice plant and thereby reduces the emission of methane from such methanogens.

LYSM RECEPTOR MOTIFS

Aspects of the present disclosure relate to genetically altered LysM receptors. In particular, the present disclosure relates replacement of part or all of motifs in the LysM1 domain with the corresponding motifs of the LysM1 domain from a donor LysM receptor that can alter the affinity, selectivity, and/or specificity for an oligosaccharide, particularly for Nod factors (lipochitooligosaccharides (LCOs)). The present disclosure also relates to genetically altering LysM receptors in plants to include a modified LysM1 domain and to genetically altering LysM receptors in plants by replacement of part or all of motifs in the LysM1 domain. The present disclosure further relates to combining LysM1 domain modifications with modifications of LysM2 domains to include a hydrophobic patch or alter the hydrophobic patch, whereby the LysM2 domain modifications can alter the affinity, selectivity, and/or specificity for an oligosaccharide, particularly for Nod factors (lipochitooligosaccharides (LCOs)).

Grain of the invention, or aleurone there-from, has improved nutritional properties, and hence is particularly useful for human and animal feed products.

PLANT BODY CONTAINING NOVEL STEVIOL GLYCOSIDE

The present invention provides a plant body containing a compound represented by Formula (1), or a salt or a hydrate thereof:

##STR00001##

[in the formula: (i) R.sub.1 represents Xyl(1-2)Glc1- and R.sub.2 represents Glc(1-2)[Glc(1-3)]Glc1- or (ii) R.sub.1 represents Glc(1-2)[Glc(1-3)]Glc1- and R.sub.2 represents Xyl(1-2)[Glc(1-3)]Glc1- (where Glc stands for glucose and Xyl stands for xylose)].

REBAUDIOSIDE D-RICH STEVIA PLANT

The present invention provides a high rebaudioside D-content stevia plant comprising rebaudioside D at higher content as compared with the wild type stevia species. The present invention also provides a method of producing such a high rebaudioside D-content stevia plant, and a dried leaf and an extract obtainable from such a plant.
