An automatic milking system controlled by receiving a parameter representing a measured flow of milk extracted from at least one teat of an udder of an animal being milked in a milking operation via at least one teatcup of the milking system, wherein the milking system is controlled to stop the milking operation based on a first criterion indicating that the flow has reached a decline phase, and a second criterion indicating that the flow decreases faster than a threshold slope, the milking operation being stopped in response to fulfillment of the second criterion on or after a point in time when the first criterion has been fulfilled. As a result, a particular amount of milk is left in the udder of the animal, irrespective of an overall milking time for the animal.

A MILKING ARRANGEMENT FOR ANIMAL HEALTH CONDITION INDICATION

A milking arrangement comprising a milking machine for milking an animal, wherein the milking arrangement comprises a control unit that is configured to obtain identity of the animal in connection with milking of the animal, obtain a reference point in time of a lactation cycle of the identified animal, determine to take at least one milk sample of the animal, when a predetermined time period has passed from the reference point in time; obtain a Haptoglobin level from the milk sample, compare the obtained Haptoglobin level with a Haptoglobin reference limit, and indicate health condition of the animal, based on the made comparison.

SOMATIC CELL METER, SOMATIC CELL MEASURING METHOD, PROGRAM, AND RECORDING MEDIUM

According to the present invention, a somatic cell meter includes a somatic cell concentration measuring section, a time constant recording section, and a somatic cell concentration deriving section. The somatic cell concentration measuring section measures the somatic cell concentration of centrifuged raw milk in association with the duration of the centrifugation. The time constant recording section records a time constant in the association relationship between the somatic cell concentration and the duration. The somatic cell concentration deriving section derives the somatic cell concentration based on a measurement result from the somatic cell concentration measuring section and a recorded content from the time constant recording section.

Milking system

A milking system for milking a dairy animal includes a milking cup for obtaining milk, a measuring chamber which is in flow communication with the milking cup for at least temporarily containing the obtained milk, and having a sensor device for measuring at least one property of the milk. The sensor device comprises at least three mutually separate electrodes for measuring values of a first milk property using an electrical and/or electromagnetic variable, and a sensor control unit for actuating the sensor device and for processing the measured values. The sensor control unit is configured to repeatedly select a pair of the electrodes in a targeted manner, the pair comprising a first electrode and a second electrode which differs from the first electrode. The sensor device is configured to measure the value of the variable between the electrodes, and to determine the value of the at least one milk property.

An automatic milking system including an electronic control unit, a milking station, a production milk tank, a second milk tank, an animal identification system, a first sensor to measure at least one indicator of illness of an animal, a data memory in which measurements are gathered. The control unit configured to register a first point of time at which milk from an animal is diverted to the second tank instead of being conducted to the production milk tank, register a second point of time at which milk from the animal is shifted from being conducted to the second tank to being conducted to the production milk tank, and, when the time period between the first point of time and the second point of time is within a predetermined number days, the control unit determines that the animal is in an illness state.

Method for reducing the individual-specific milk production of milk-producing animals

Methods and apparatus for milking a milk-producing animal, in particular a cow, that set a target milk quantity which is lower than a possible expected milk quantity, carry out the milking process, determine the milked quantity and compares the milked quantity with the target milk quantity, and terminate milking when the milked quantity corresponds substantially to the target milk quantity.

Described herein is a system and a method to conduct for inline estimation of milk parameters such as fat, protein, lactose, somatic cell contents (SCC), and progesterone during the milking process that can be performed real time during the milking process with a commercially acceptable level of accuracy. In one example embodiment, specific wavelengths are identified that facilitate the use of low-cost Near-Infrared (NIR) Spectrometers and sensors to develop the inline, real time estimation system, with at least two segments or ranges being identified of NIR wavelengths for determining content or composition for these key parameters.
