tRNA OVEREXPRESSION AS A THERAPEUTIC APPROACH FOR CHARCOT-MARIE-TOOTH NEUROPATHY ASSOCIATED WITH MUTATIONS IN tRNA SYNTHETASES

The present invention is in the field of a compound for use as a medicament for treatment of tRNA deficiencies in living cells, a dosage comprising said compound, and an in vivo and in vitro method for treatment of tRNA deficiencies, as well as for prevention, mitigation of symptoms, and regeneration of cells.

REARING APPARATUS

There is provided a rearing apparatus for rearing an organism includes: a box-shaped rearing case; at least one perching member that is held in the rearing case and that is capable of perching the organism; and a separating member that is provided in the rearing case and that is movable along the perching member. The separating member is configured to separate the organism perched at the perching member from the perching member by the separating member moving along the perching member.

Climate control system for insect farming

The invention relates to a climate control device for controlling the temperature and humidity of air supplied to colonies of insects cultured in an industrial scale insect farm. In particular, the invention relates to a controllable air conditioning system comprising a network of pipes connecting at least one cluster comprising at least one insect farming cage, such that air is conditionable in the cages at the cluster level. More specifically, the invention relates to a system comprising a central main air conditioning facility providing temperature conditioned air and absolute air humidity conditioned air to each of a number of local air conditioning devices, each separate local air conditioning device providing temperature conditioned air and absolute air humidity conditioned air to each of a plethora of clusters of insect breeding cages separately, said cages housed in an temperature conditioned farming room. This way, insects in cages housed in farming rooms are farmed under improved conditions with regard to minimized cage-to-cage temperature differences and differences in relative air humidity, due to the use of the climate control device of the invention.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR GENERATING GENETIC INCOMPATIBILITY

An engineered genetic incompatibility (EGI) strain of a wild-type organism is designed to include a haplosufficient lethal allele and a haploinsufficient resistance allele. In another aspect, a biocontainment system generally includes a polynucleotide that encodes a coding region whose expression causes infertility or death, a transcription regulatory region operably linked upstream of the coding region and containing a silent mutation, and a polynucleotide that encodes a programmable transcription activator. The programmable transcription activator is engineered to bind to the transcription regulatory region in the absence of the silent mutation, thereby expressing the coding region in the absence of the silent mutation, but does not initiate expression of the coding region when the transcription regulatory region comprises the silent mutation.

Modular lamp system for insect breeding, use thereof for stimulation of insect reproduction and a method of insect breeding

The present invention relates to a modular lamp system for insect breeding and reproduction stimulation, which comprises lamps emitting light in the range of about 400-800 nm and at least one lamp with a peak emission lower than about 410 nm, wherein the light intensity measured 50 cm from the light source is not less than 5000 lx with an irradiance in the spectral range of 350-1000 nm at the level of 35-50 W/m2, wherein no less than 95% of the irradiance is in the range of 350-700 nm, and wherein the irradiance in the spectral range of 370-410 nm is 25-80% of irradiance in the range of 350-700 nm and is not less than 10 W/m2. The present invention also provides a method of insect breeding and use of the modular lamp system for stimulation of insect reproduction.

Automated Fluid Delivery System

The invention is an apparatus for providing fresh and sanitary drinking water or other delivery fluids to insects. Embodiments of the invention provide this fluid on an automated and continual basis during the breeding and growing of insects. Embodiments of the invention provide a continuous supply of fresh water to insects during the entirety of the growing cycle. The current system allows for an automated supply of water to be fed into the system on a continual basis. The current system also provides for the continuous cleaning and sanitation of the system to insure continued sanitary operation and suitability of the fluid.

Production line with flow-through feed heating and/or cooling system and heated surface for breeding insects, method for breeding insects and uses thereof

The first object of the invention is a production line for rearing and/or breeding insects and/or larval forms of insects of the order Coleoptera and/or Diptera, characterized in that it comprises: at least one breeding line (14) for breeding insects for laying feed thereon and a flow-through feed heating and/or cooling system (1) with a closed flow of heating-cooling medium for heating/cooling the feed on the breeding line (14). The second object is a method for breeding insects including a step of rearing and/or breeding insects and/or larval forms of insects using a production line according to the invention. A further object is a method for breeding insects using a flow-through feed heating and/or cooling system during the breeding. Another object is the use of a flow-through feed heating and/or cooling system (1) with a closed flow of heating-cooling medium for heating/cooling the feed on the breeding line (14).

READY-TO-USE FLY NEONATE LARVAE WITH EXTENDED SHELF-LIFE AND METHODS OF PRODUCING SAME

The present invention provides compositions and methods for inducing suspended animation in neonate larvae of beneficial fly, particularly larvae of the Black soldier fly. During the suspended animation, the larvae show extended shelf-life and improved shipment durability. The suspended animation is reversible, and upon exposure to standard rearing conditions the larvae reach comparable maturity to corresponding non-suspended larvae.
