SYSTEM FOR ADJUSTABLY HANGING AN ITEM FROM A POLE
20230026472 · 2023-01-26 ·

A hanging system includes a bracket configured to adjustably mount at a pole and a rope extending through a pulley at the pole. The bracket includes a body defining a passageway and an arm extending from the body and including a hanging element. The passageway receives the pole. When the bracket is mounted at the pole, the rope is connected at a connecting element of the bracket, extends upward along the pole, through the pulley, and downward along a channel formed along the bracket. With no external force applied at the rope, an inner surface of the body engages the pole to, due to a frictional force between the bracket and pole, retain the bracket at a position along the pole. Responsive to an external force applied at the rope in the downward direction, the external force overcomes the frictional force and the bracket moves upward along the pole.

The present technology provides systems and methods for resisting intrusion of a pest into a supply of bird seed held in a birdfeeder. In one implementation, a base has a surface extending to a base edge. A perch has a body extending from a perch first end to a perch second end. The perch body is disposed relative to a slot. A collapsible member is mounted to the base at a first attachment point. The first attachment point is disposed inward relative to the base edge. The collapsible member is mounted to the perch at a second attachment point. The collapsible member has a pivot point defined between the first attachment point and the second attachment point. The collapsible member moves the perch from a feeding position to a non-feeding position by pivoting at the pivot point upon an application of a force above a threshold on the perch body.

A bird feeder comprises an inner housing including a seed reservoir having at least one feed port defined therethrough, and an inner base supporting the seed reservoir. An outer housing of the feeder is moveably mounted to the inner housing, and includes a reservoir cover arranged over the seed reservoir and defining at least one feed opening. A top cover of the outer housing receives a portion of the inner housing, and an outer base of the outer housing supports the reservoir cover. The outer housing is moveable relative to the inner housing between a first position and a second position. A compression spring is operatively connected between the inner base and the outer base for biasing the outer housing into the first position relative to the inner housing.

Bird feeder preventing food from being stolen
20230146594 · 2023-05-11 ·

The present disclosure provides a bird feeder preventing food from being stolen, the bird feeder includes an upper cover, a food storage pipe and a bottom cover, where the food storage pipe is provided with a food storage cavity, and the upper cover is connected to a pendant; feeding ports communicating with the food storage cavity are provided around a circumferential side of the bottom cover; and the bottom cover, at the feeding ports, may be rotationally connected to trays. Correspondingly to the feeding ports, the bottom cover is inwards and concavely provided with leak-proof portions, each leak-proof portion is provided with a first backstop surface extending vertically, an upper edge of the first backstop surface is externally extended with a second backstop surface, and one end, away from each first backstop surface, of each second backstop surface, is connected to each feeding port. A gap is kept between a lower part of each first backstop surface and each feeding port. Thus, by designing the bird feeder and disposing the leak-proof portions at the feeding ports of the bird feeder, birdseed may be prevented from falling outside the food storage cavity of the bird feeder from the feeding ports. Then the trays may be rotationally connected so that birds can stand stably for eating food while effectively preventing squirrels from stealing the food.

A bird feeder including a shroud embracing a vertically disposed feed container with the feed container having a feed tray at the lower end thereof. The shroud is vertically movable between an upper position and a lower position with respect to the feed container. In its upper position, birds are able to gain access to the feed tray. In its lower position, the shroud blocks access to the feed tray. A spring yieldably maintains the shroud in its upper position. If a squirrel climbs onto the shroud, the weight of the squirrel overcomes the resistance of the spring which results in the shroud moving to its lower position to prevent the squirrel from gaining access to the feed tray. Three different embodiments of the spring are described and shown. The design of the cover of the shroud partially shields the spring from inclement weather.
