IMPROVED ATTACHMENT SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR AQUATIC BASKETS
A system (100) and method for attaching an aquatic basket (102) to a longline in an aquaculture farming environment. The system includes the basket (102), a longline engagement means (104, 105), and a locking bar (106) configured for slidable engagement with one or both of the engagement means and basket (102).
Depuration system
The invention relates to a container assembly comprising a container for depuration of mollusks and a drain canal unit. The assembly provides a closed circulation of water via a circulation route that has an entry portion between the floor of the container and the drain canal unit, a circulation channel between the corner of the container and a drain canal unit, and a drain canal within the drain canal unit. Also provided is a drain canal unit for use in stackable containers that provides circulation of water within a container assembly.
Pneumatically controlled aquaculture apparatus
A pneumatically controlled aquaculture apparatus is provided. The apparatus has a lift vessel that lifts containers holding shellfish out of the water when the lift vessel is floating in order to allow air desiccation to prevent bio-fouling of the equipment and shellfish. The apparatus also has a buoy bladder positioned above the containers holding shellfish. The buoy bladder is retained in a centered position of the apparatus. The apparatus may be deployed in a suspended position with the buoy bladder floating on the water surface and the containers holding shellfish suspended below the buoy bladder. In addition, the apparatus may be deployed in a submerged position in which the buoy bladder is deflated and the apparatus is either resting on the water bottom or retained in a desired position in the water column.

Oyster aquaculture method and apparatus
For oyster aquaculture, oysters are housed in cylindrical containers. The containers have open (e.g. mesh) sides allowing water and nutrient flow. Containers are attached at each end to a horizontal anchoring system, such as a pair of lines running near the water surface. The attachment involves rotatable connection, allowing the containers to roll. The containers include a traction surface, such as a ridged or toothed surface for traction, or another roughened or corrugated surface. This allows the containers to be rolled without disconnection from the anchoring system, for tumbling and transport. A container handling device mounted on a boat includes a ramp descending into the water and an operating area. The operating area includes a de-fouling bath and a surface on which the containers roll, facilitating tumbling. The container handling device travels along a line of containers with the anchor lines running overtop, lifting each container up and through the operating area in turn.

Adjustable natural culling of mussel population on mussel-culture ropes
A method for naturally culling mussel population on a mussel-culture rope, comprising the steps of installing a predator guard around the mussel-culture rope; and during the step of installing, adjusting a degree of mussel protection of that predator guard. In one aspect, the step of adjusting comprises the steps of opening and adjusting a size of a breach in the predator guard. In another aspect, the predator guard is made of an elongated hemicylindroidal mesh-like element with an open side. The hemicylindroidal element has flaps bordering the open side. The flaps constitute duck-mobility impediments for limiting without completely precluding predation by diving ducks.

Aquaculture basket clip and line protector
Disclosed is a protector for a clip and line used to suspend aquaculture baskets or like equipment in water. In particular, the protector provides a sacrificial element between the clip and the line that is cheap to manufacture and easy to replace. While an application of the present invention is in oyster cultivation, it could equally well be applied to any process involving the line suspension of an article in water.
