A fishing apparatus that includes a float member to position the fishing apparatus at a surface of a body of water. The fishing apparatus also includes a spool apparatus. The spool apparatus includes a spool end for having fishing line wound around. The spool apparatus further includes a flange apparatus attached to the spool end for securing the fishing line and preventing the fishing line from feeding out any further than desirable. The flange apparatus includes a first flange portion positioned adjacent to the spool end. The first flange portion includes a first opening and a first slot disposed therein. The flange apparatus also includes a second flange portion positioned adjacent to the first flange portion. The second flange portion having a second opening and a second slot disposed therein.

Bow fishing reel with reduced friction payout

A reel suitable for bow fishing and the like provides a cowling covering a reel with a wide opening to reduce frictional restraint on high-speed paying out of the line with the flight of the arrow. An optional guide arm may be used to minimize line diversion and hence friction during line payout while absorbing forces when the line is retracted permitting use of a lighter cowling design without loss of strength. A high torque bevel gear transmission and safety lighting is further provided.

Rattle reel

Certain types of rattle reels include a housing; a reel coupled to the housing; and an indicator arrangement carried by the housing. The indicator arrangement is operationally coupled to the reel so that movement of the reel relative to the housing activates the indicator arrangement. The indicator arrangement remains activated until the user manually resets the indicator arrangement. Certain types of rattle reels include a free-standing housing including an adjustable leg; a reel coupled to the housing; a power source carried by the housing; a light source carried by the housing; and a user interface member accessible for activating and deactivating the light source.

A line holder spool for holding an amount of line is provided. The spool comprises a first spool portion securable to a second spool portion. An annular, flexible line trapping mechanism having a first side and a second side is provided. The line trapping mechanism is releasably positioned between the first spool portion and the second spool portion with the first side facing the first spool portion and the second side facing the second spool portion. A first groove is formed in the first side if the line trapping mechanism. The line is windable within the first groove of the line trapping mechanism and the line trapping mechanism maintains the line from unwrapping from the spool. A portion of the line trapping mechanism is selectively movable outward from between the first spool portion and the second spool portion to access the line.
