A tip-up cover is provided that may be used during ice fishing. The tip-up cover may be set over a hole made in the ice during ice fishing to protect the hole from wind and snow. The tip-up cover may include a transparent lid such that a user can view the interior of the tip-up cover without opening the cover. Also, the lid allows a user to adjust a spool within the tip-up cover without requiring the user to completely remove the cover from the ice hole. Finally, the tip-up cover includes a flag and a bite-indicator light that provide visual cues to the user when a fish is caught on the line attached to the spool.

A casting device, such as a fishing rod. The present casting device includes a rod, a spool disposed on the rod, a clamp disposed at the distal end of the rod, and a trigger operably connected to the clamp. The rod is configured to support a primary line having a secondary line extending therefrom. The secondary line further includes a stop configured to be gripped by the clamp. When the stop is gripped by the clamp, the primary line is tethered to the distal end of the rod via the secondary line. In one embodiment, the clamp includes a pair of clamp members connected by an articulated, pivotable connection. The casting device allows a user to precisely control the moment at which the primary line is cast because the primary line remains tethered to the rod until the clamp is opened.

In described embodiments, a method of redirecting a track of a fishing lure on a fishing line. The fishing lure has a body, a fishing lure longitudinal axis extending along a length of the body, a line tie extending outwardly from the body, and a re-positioning mechanism mounted entirely inside the body and connected to the line tie. The re-positioning mechanism is activated by the fishing line. The method includes the steps of using a fishing pole, casting the fishing lure into a body of water; while the fishing lure is in the water, reeling in the fishing lure; and moving the line tie between a first position and a second position such that only the movement of the line tie between the first position and the second position changes a direction of travel of the fishing lure while the lure is being reeled in.

In one aspect, a lure assembly includes a fishing hook having an eyelet and a bend separated by a shank, the bend terminating at a point separated from the shank by a gape. The lure assembly further includes a hook appurtenance attached to the fishing hook and positioned past the bend generally aligned with the shank of the fishing hook. The hook appurtenance includes an ergonomic mass forming a resilient structure for gripping by a person, the ergonomic mass having a size smaller than a gape of the hook to avoid interfering with operation of the fishing hook.
