SYSTEMS, METHODS AND COMPOSITIONS FOR EFFECTIVE INSECT POPULATION SUPPRESSION
Provided herein are compositions, systems, and methods for suppressing a population of insects such as flies. Some embodiments relate to compositions comprising a fermented biomass, a dye and a particulate matter. Some embodiments relate to systems and methods for use of the compositions described herein. The compositions are biodegradable, non-toxic, and environmentally friendly.
MICROWAVES FOR PLANT AND PEST CONTROL
Disclosed are methods and devices that are useful for limiting plant growth using microwaves without the use of chemical agents such as herbicides and, in some embodiments, are thereby useful for weed control. Disclosed are also methods and devices that are useful for injuring and/or killing arthropods using microwaves without the use of chemical agents such as pesticides and, in some embodiments, are thereby useful for the control of arthropod infestation.
Calibration target for ultrasonic removal of ectoparasites from fish
Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-storage media, for a calibration target for ultrasonic removal of ectoparasites from fish. In some implementations, the calibration target includes a fish-shaped structure, sensors positioned at different locations of the fish-shaped structure, a processor that receives sensor values from the sensors, and a transmitter that outputs sensor data from the calibration target based on the sensor values.
PEST CONTROL WITH ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT
A method for treating pest infestation of crops includes withholding all light from the crops and, during the withholding, applying a burst of ultraviolet light to the crops. A method for reducing pests includes turning off all lighting arranged to apply growth light to the crops, applying a burst of ultraviolet light to the crops and turning on the lighting arranged to apply growth light to the crops. A system for treating pest infestation of crops includes a plurality of ultraviolet light sources and a controller configured to energize the ultraviolet light sources to apply a burst of ultraviolet light to the crops.
Pest control apparatus
An apparatus for controlling plant pests includes a portable case and a light source held in the case. The light source emits ultraviolet light in a predetermined direction. The case includes an installation assembly configured to be installed in a culture medium of the plant so that the predetermined direction is upward. An optical component that removes a wavelength component larger than 340 nm from the ultraviolet light emitted by the light source may also be provided.
ULTRAVIOLET TREATMENT OF TRANSFORMED COLEOPTERA LARVAE FOR VITAMIN D3 ENRICHMENT
The present invention relates to a process for preparing a beetle powder comprising a light treatment step in which at least one light source emits ultraviolet radiation toward transformed beetle larvae.
Method and apparatus for asphyxiating arthropods
The present invention is about turning the gaseous envelope that encoats, protects certain arthropods from their external environment against them. It teaches to apply radiation to the arthropods body in order to dysfunction the exacting geometry needed to maintain this protective envelope. This absorbed radiation thus makes the arthropod vulnerable to pesticides and other chemical agents. It also interferes with the arthropods ability to adequately breathe through their plastron covering by forcing it to increase its rate of metabolism via this absorbed radiation.
Insect barrier arrangement utilizing electrodes
Disclosed is an insect repulsion and/or barrier system (10) and a method for repelling insects (2) and/or for preventing insects (2) from passing through a defined opening (12) or surface (9). The barrier system (10) is equipped with devices (16) for preventing insects from passing through an opening (12) or for repelling insects when approaching the opening (12) and/or the devices (16). The devices (16) have at least two electrodes (18), whereby different electrical potentials are applied to or can be applied to the at least two electrodes (18). The at least two electrodes (18) are arranged within or on the edge of or outside the opening such that an electrical field (28) is formed between the at least two electrodes (18). The electrical field (28) rejects and/or repels insects approaching the electrical field (28) or prevents insects approaching the electrical field (28) from passing through the opening (12).
INSECT TRAPPING UNIT AND INSECT TRAP
An insect trapping unit that is provided with an adhesive sheet that includes a fluorescent brightening agent and that can transmit ultraviolet rays, and with a reflective member that reflects ultraviolet rays that have been transmitted through the adhesive sheet. The adhesive sheet is provided with an adhesive surface and with a rear surface that is on the opposite side from the adhesive surface. The reflective member faces the rear surface of the adhesive sheet.
