A carbon fiber boom structure for an agricultural sprayer boom, the boom structure including an elongated upper carbon fiber tube, at least one elongated lower carbon fiber and a carbon fiber/resin matrix uniting structure bonded to each of the carbon fiber tubes to hold the tubes in a spaced apart position. The uniting structure being formed in a winding operation by applying windings of a carbon fiber string with a liquid resin around portions of the tubes, the windings and resin matrix defining an inner primary layer and an outer primary layer, wherein the inner primary layer is bonded to a surface portion of each tube while the outer primary layer is bonded to a remaining surface portion of each tube to completely, or essentially completely, envelope each tube by the portions of the two primary layers.

Spray boom for an agricultural machine

The present invention is directed to a spray boom for an agricultural machine in which the boom is arranged as a truss with interior diagonal struts of the truss being configured to absorb tension and compression energy imparted by deflections over the length of the boom with such energy being dissipated as heat. In one aspect, the diagonal strut could comprise a rod moveable with respect to a tube with a polymer, such as an elastomeric material, arranged in the tube to dampen the movement. The tension and compression of the diagonal strut could subject the dampener to a shearing force which could be absorbed by the dampener rather than transferred to the machine.

A CONNECTOR BODY, A STRUCTURE INCLUDING THE CONNECTOR BODY, AND A METHOD OF FORMING THE STRUCTURE

A connector body having a first end portion defining a first end face of the body and an opposite second end portion defining a second end face of the body, the first end portion including a first peripheral groove with a first sealing ring, and the second end portion including a second peripheral groove with a second sealing ring, an intermediate portion of the—body defining a peripheral surface extending between the first sealing ring and the second sealing ring, the peripheral surface to be covered by the retaining glue for bonding the body to the tube, a glue flow passage at the first end portion extending transversally to the first sealing ring, and a glue injection channel extending from the first end portion towards the second end portion and including a glue injection port in the first end portion and a glue ejection port at the peripheral surface.

LOCALIZED PRODUCT INJECTION SYSTEM AND METHODS FOR SAME

A localized product injection system includes a composite boom tube having a carrier fluid passage within a tube body, and at least one injection product passage within the tube body isolated from the carrier fluid passage. A plurality of port stations are provided at locations along the tube body. Each of the port stations includes a carrier fluid outlet port and at least one injection product outlet port. A localized injection interface is coupled at a port station. The injection interface includes a carrier fluid input coupled with the carrier fluid outlet port, and at least one injection product input coupled with the at least one injection product outlet port. The injection interface includes at least one throttling element in communication with the at least one injection product input, a mixing chamber, and an injection port configured for localized coupling and injection to a product dispenser.

Upward facing light sensor for plant detection

A farming machine is configured to identify and treat plants in a field. The farming machine includes one or more light sensors for measuring a characteristic of light. The one or more light sensors are coupled to the farming machine and are directed a substantially upwards orientation away from the plants. A control system adjusts settings of an image acquisition system based on a characteristic of light measured by the one or more light sensors. The image acquisition system captures an image of a plant using one or more image sensors coupled to the farming machine, the one or more image sensors directed in a substantially downwards orientation towards the plants. The control system identifies a plant in the image and actuates a treatment mechanism to treat the identified plant.

A spray boom support structure includes a first support member, a second support member, a plurality of vertical support elements disposed between the first and second support member along lengths of the first and second support members, and at least one strut. Each vertical support element includes a bottom saddle portion coupled to first support member, a top saddle portion coupled to the second support member, and an I-beam portion disposed between the top and bottom saddle portions. Further, each strut extends between adjacent vertical support elements.

Boom mounted spray nozzle assembly with multi check valve compact design

A liquid spraying system having an elongated liquid supply boom and a plurality of spray nozzle assemblies. The spray nozzle assemblies have a compact design with a nozzle body having a liquid inlet and a first spray nozzle carrying liquid outlet section on opposite upper and lower sides, second and third spray nozzle carrying liquid outlet sections disposed in transverse relation to the supply boom; and first and second check valve supporting sections disposed parallel to the liquid supply boom. A first of check valves is operable for controlling liquid flow from the supply boom to one or both of the second and third spray nozzles, and a second check valve is operable for controlling liquid flow from said liquid inlet to said first spray nozzle. The illustrated check valves are operable in response to the pressure of the supply liquid.
