FOOD PROCESSING APPARATUS AND LIGHT SOURCE WITH CATALYST
A food processing apparatus includes: a container that includes a space for accommodating a food item; a catalyst film that includes an activation surface in contact with the space; and a light source that is disposed closer to a principal surface of the catalyst film than to the activation surface in a thickness direction of the catalyst film, and emits ultraviolet light toward the catalyst film. The principal surface is on an opposite side of the catalyst film with respect to the activation surface. The catalyst film includes a surface layer including the activation surface and an absorption layer including the principal surface. The absorption layer contains an ultraviolet-light absorbing particle that absorbs a portion of the ultraviolet light.
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR TREATING FOODS AND/OR CONTAINERS FOR HOLDING FOODS
The invention relates to a method and a device for treating foods and/or containers for holding foods. The foods and/or containers (2) are treated in at least one treatment zone (4) by a process liquid (3), wherein the process liquid (3) is at least partially recirculated into the treatment zone (4) or the treatment zones (4) after completed treatment of the foods and/or the containers (2). It is provided herein that during continuous treatment at least some or all of the process liquid (3) is used per time unit to form at least one stream (20) of the process liquid (3), the formed stream (20) is filtered by at least one membrane filtration system (19), and a filtered stream (46) is at least partially fed back into an element (8) holding and/or conducting the process liquid (3) and/or into a treatment zone (4).
Storage Device Including Target UV Illumination Ranges
Ultraviolet radiation is directed within an area at target wavelengths, target intensities, a target temporal distribution, and/or a target spatial distribution. The target attribute(s) of the ultraviolet radiation can correspond to at least one of a plurality of selectable operating configurations including a storage life preservation operating configuration, a disinfection operating configuration, an ethylene decomposition operating configuration, and/or the like.
Method of treating plant and method of making plant-based food or drink product
The present disclosure relates to a method of increasing an amount of a stilbenoid, and/or one or more compounds selected from the group consisting of TCA cycle metabolites, polyamine alkaloids, 4-aminobutyric acid, abscisic acid and salts thereof in a plant, the method comprising steps of: irradiating the plant, part, crushed material or cultured plant cell with light, wherein a fluence at a wavelength range of 275-295 nm is 50,000-2,500,000 mol/m.sup.2, while at the same time a fluence at a wavelength range of 200-270 nm is less than 20% of the fluence at the wavelength range of 275-295 nm; and storing the irradiated plant, part, crushed material or cultured plant cell in a dark place for 1 day or more.

Movable Ultraviolet Radiation Source
A solution for treating a surface with ultraviolet radiation is provided. A movable ultraviolet source is utilized to emit a beam of ultraviolet radiation having a characteristic cross-sectional area smaller than an area of the surface to be treated. The movable ultraviolet source can be moved as necessary to directly irradiate any portion of the surface with radiation within the characteristic cross-sectional area of the beam of ultraviolet radiation. The movement can include, for example, rotational movement and/or repositioning the movable ultraviolet source with respect to the surface.
