Methods for producing a hemp seed product
Methods and systems for producing improved hemp seed products, such as proteins and oils are provided.
PROCESS FOR ISOLATING SOLUBLE FUNCTIONAL PROTEINS FROM PLANT MATERIAL
A process for obtaining soluble functional proteins from plant material includes the steps of: mechanically disrupting the cells of the plant material to obtain a mush stream; subjecting the mush stream to a coarse physical separation step, resulting in a permeate and a retentate; subjecting the permeate P.sub.b to mild treatment, resulting in a treated permeate; subjecting the treated permeate to serial centrifugation steps; subjecting centrate to a microfiltration step resulting in a permeate and a retentate; subjecting the permeate to an ultrafiltration step resulting in a permeate and a retentate; subjecting the retentate to hydrophobic column adsorption to provide a column permeate and a retentate; and drying the column permeate to provide a soluble functional protein isolate.
Plant-derived protein purification
The disclosure describes methods for the purification of protein-enriched extracts to provide concentrates and isolates and methods for incorporation of such materials into products. The purification methods are adapted for removal of, e.g., chlorophyll and may thus provide lightening the color of the protein-enriched extracts. The methods generally include treatment with peracetic acid or hydrogen peroxide and filtrations. A protein composition in the form of a concentrate or isolate is provided, the protein composition including RuBisCO, F2 fraction proteins, or combination thereof extracted from a plant material.

HEMP SEED PRODUCTS AND METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR PRODUCING SAME
Methods and systems for producing improved hemp seed products, such as proteins and oils are provided.
Compositions comprising Fabaceae family plant components, processes of preparation and uses thereof
The present disclosure relates to processes for recovering valuable products from Fabaceae family plant fractions, in particular from Medicago sativa ssp. The processes disclosed herein include processes for obtaining macrofibers, microfibers, a saponin precursor, chloroplast liquid and dry compositions and a Rubisco precursor. There is also disclosed herein processes for extracting from Fabaceae family plants valuable compounds such as proteins, enzymes, peptides, amino acids, fatty acids, fatty alcohols, terpenes, phenols and pigments. The processes may comprise at least one of separating plant fibers while attenuating shear forces, maintaining the temperature at or below 45° C., maintaining the pH above 4 and adding antioxidant and/or antimicrobial agents. Compositions comprising these recovered Fabaceae family plant products and uses thereof are also disclosed.
METHODS AND COMPOSITIONS FOR AFFECTING THE FLAVOR AND AROMA PROFILE OF CONSUMABLES
This document relates to food products containing highly conjugated heterocyclic rings complexed to an iron ion and one or more flavor precursors, and using such food products to modulate the flavor and/or aroma profile of other foods. The food products described herein can be prepared in various ways and can be formulated to be free of animal products.
Sweet potato leaf protein concentrates and methods for obtaining the same
Described herein is a concentrated sweet potato leaf protein in dried form, along with methods for producing it. The concentrated leaf protein has a protein content of greater than 21% by weight, and can have other beneficial components such as polyphenols. The concentrated leaf proteins are suitable for use in food and beverages, as protein supplementation, or as agents for gelling, foaming, and whipping.
ECONOMICAL PROCESS FOR THE ISOLATION OF FUNCTIONAL PROTEIN FROM PLANTS
The invention relates to a method for obtaining a protein from a plant material, wherein the method comprises the steps of i) mechanically disrupting the plant cells to obtain a plant juice in the presence of a reducing agent, ii) treating the plant juice to cause aggregation of chloroplast membranes, iii) removing the aggregated chloroplast membranes by precipitation and/or microfiltration, iv) subjecting the plant juice to ultrafiltration, and v) subjecting the soluble plant protein concentrate to hydrophobic column adsorption to remove residual chlorophyll, phenolic compounds and off-odors in a single column passage. The present invention also pertains to an apparatus and system for plant protein isolation based on this method. The isolated proteins can be economically obtained in batch scale and in large scale. Further, the invention is directed to a protein obtained by the method of the invention, a food product comprising thereof, and a use thereof.
PURIFIED PROTEIN CONCENTRATES OF SWEET POTATO LEAVES, AND METHODS FOR RECOVERY
This paper describes a concentrated sweet potato leaf protein in dried form, along with methods for producing it. The concentrated leaf protein is high in protein content, high in purity, and can have other beneficial components such as polyphenols. The concentrated leaf proteins are suitable for use in food and beverages, as protein supplementation, or as agents for gelling, foaming, whipping and the like.
