SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR APPLYING TREATMENTS FOR PRESERVATION OF PERISHABLE GOODS
A method for treating a perishable product is provided, the method comprising: determining a desired product treatment outcome selected from sanitization, protection, preservation, or enhancement of the perishable product; after harvesting, wet or dry washing the perishable product; directly or indirectly applying a substance to the surface of the perishable product using a carrier; and packaging the perishable product. A system for treating a perishable product with a substance treatment is provided, the system comprising: one or more devices for directed substance application to a surface of the perishable products prior to final packaging of the perishable product using a carrier; and wherein the one or more devices is an electrostatically charging device or a nebulizer. Embodiments of the invention which use multiple, sequenced, and engineered applications enhance the efficacy of sanitizers and other functional substances for increasing the quality, safety, and overall shelf life of perishable products.

Packaging films
A packaging film is described comprising at least one polymer film layer in which particles of a small-pore or a medium-pore palladium-doped zeolite are dispersed. Such films are of particular utility for the adsorption of volatile organic compounds, such as those originating from organic matter.
Packaging materials
The use of a palladium-doped zeolite for the adsorption of volatile organic compounds is described wherein the zeolite has a CHA framework type and is polymer-bound. Such zeolites have been found to have particular utility as packaging materials for the adsorption of volatile organic compounds, such as those originating from organic matter.

ACTIVE COMPOUND ATTACHMENT FOR PRESERVING PRODUCT IN A PACKAGE, AND METHOD OF MAKING AND USING SAME
A method is described herein for slowing, inhibiting, and/or preventing the growth of microbes, or for killing microbes, within and/or on a product/good that is stored in a package. The method can include applying a film cover over a perforated portion of a package and securing the film cover to the package at the perimeter of the perforated portion with an adhesive or by heat stacking. The film cover can include a material for changing the atmosphere within the package. The package may be an existing pre-perforated package, or may be a package that requires perforation. If the package requires perforation, the method can further include perforating at least a portion of the package prior to positioning the film cover over the perforated portion. The film cover can be formed of a three-phase material or other material.
