Process for the preparation of powdered probiotic formulations for monogastric animals
The invention relates to a process for the preparation of dry lyophilized powdered formulations of probiotic bacteria for monogastric animal (for example poultry birds) using a combination of different polymers through the process of encapsulation. The resulting lyophilized powders of probiotic bacteria are having increased viability during animal feed processing, storage and upon transfer to the monogastric animal's digestive system.

Fruit and vegetable-based fermentate compositions and methods of making and using the same
A method for producing a fermentate including the steps of obtaining a fruit or vegetable extract, treating the extract with a hydrolytic enzyme, mixing the extract with a fermenting microorganism, water, and a growth media to produce a liquid composition; and incubating the liquid composition at a controlled temperature and a controlled pH to produce a fermentate. A method for killing or inhibiting the growth of a contaminating microorganism on or within a food product, and a food product including a fermentate having a cellular mass component from a fermenting microorganism, a fermented fruit or vegetable extract and a hydrolytic enzyme are disclosed. A fermentate produced by any one of the methods described is contemplated. The fermentate may be a concentrated liquid or a dry powder and has the ability to inhibit the growth of a contaminating microorganism by 100% when diluted to less than 5% (w/v).
Sequential co-culturing method for producing a vitamin- and protein-rich food product
The present invention relates to a method for producing a vitamin- and protein-rich product, to a food product containing the vitamin- and protein-rich product, and to a nutrient medium appropriate for said method on the basis of agricultural tributaries or food tributaries.
Fruit ferments containing propionate and use thereof
The present invention discloses a method to prepare a fruit ferment containing propionic acid and/or a salt thereof comprising i) obtaining a liquid fruit preparation, ii) optionally supplementing the liquid fruit preparation with water and/or with additional components to support fermentation, iii) fermenting the optionally supplemented liquid fruit preparation with a propionic acid-producing bacterial strain, iv) optionally further processing the fermentation product, to obtain the fruit ferment. Next to a propionic acid-producing bacterial strain, a lactic acid-producing bacterial strain may be used in the fermentation. The invention also relates to a fruit ferment obtainable by said method.
