Method for manufacturing mouthpiece lining paper
A method for producing a diffusion-optimized tipping paper for tobacco products, especially filter cigarettes, by plasma perforation of the web of tipping paper for the purpose of maximum carbon monoxide reduction, wherein the diffusivity and the permeability P of the perforated tipping paper are measured in-line and diffusivity is maximized by controlling the perforation parameters, the definable target permeability P.sub.soll being maintained at all times.
Method for applying register marks to wrapping paper for smoking articles
The invention relates to a method for marking a wrapping paper for smoking articles, comprising the following steps: (A) providing a wrapping paper for smoking articles, and (B) producing register marks on the wrapping paper by treating the surface of the wrapping paper with laser radiation having an energy density y in J-m-2, to which the following applies: y=k.Math.x, whereby x is the enthalpy of combustion per volume of the wrapping paper in J.Math.m.sup.−2.Math.μm.sup.−1, and k is at least −8 μm and at most −1 μm.
Device for embossing and/or perforating foils for tobacco goods
The device for embossing and perforating foils for tobacco goods includes: a pair of embossing rolls, one of the embossing rolls having teeth for perforating the foil, the counter roll to the embossing roll with the perforating teeth being a matrix roll which has recesses that correspond to the teeth on the patrix roll, both embossing rolls being arranged in a perforation device, and the device being designed in order to be operated directly or indirectly online in a machine for producing tobacco goods. The use of patrix-matrix embossing rolls allows for a large variety of perforations, the device having a control unit designed to control the exact position, size and arrangement of the perforations on the basis of the quality of the foil to be processed.
MACHINE AND METHOD FOR MAKING A SUB-UNIT OF A SMOKING ARTICLE
A machine for making sub-units of smoking articles comprises a conveyor, a feed unit, cutting means and at least one rotary applicator. The conveyor is configured to feed a succession of tubular segments of the tobacco industry. The feed unit is configured to feed and convey at least one continuous web. The cutting means are configured to separate a succession of closing elements from a front end of the continuous web. The rotary applicator is operatively associated with the conveyor and is configured to pick up the succession of closing elements and to apply them, preferably by gluing, to an application end of a respective tubular segment, in such a way as to form closing walls to at least partly close the application ends.
MACHINE AND METHOD FOR MAKING A SUB-UNIT OF A SMOKING ARTICLE
A machine for making sub-units of smoking articles includes a conveyor, a feed unit and an applicator. The conveyor conveys a succession of tubular segments transversely along a conveying direction. The feed unit feeds and conveys a continuous web and advances the web along a feed direction parallel to the conveying direction of the tubular segments so that the web faces respective application ends of the tubular segments. The applicator is movable along an application direction parallel to an axis of predominant extension of the succession of tubular segments and is configured to engage the web so as to separate respective closing elements from it. The applicator is also configured to apply the closing element internally or externally on an application end of a respective tubular segment in such a way as to form a closing wall to at least partly close the application end.
Aerosol Generating Device with Environmentally Optimised Filter
An aerosol generating device includes a rod of aerosol generating material and a filter rod, and tipping paper. The filter rod includes a first filter portion and a second filter portion. The first filter portion includes acetate tow and is positioned at a mouth end of the aerosol generating device. The second filter portion is biodegradable and extends from the first filter portion to the rod of aerosol generating material. The tipping paper surrounds the filter rod and a part of the rod of aerosol generating material. The second filter portion encloses a volume which is more than 50% of a combined volume enclosed by the first and second filter portions. The tipping paper includes a line of weakening extending from the mouth end towards the rod of aerosol generating material so that at least a portion of the tipping paper can be opened, and preferably removed, by a user.
Embossed Tipping Paper and Method of Manufacturing Smoking Article with Embossed Tipping Paper
An embossed tipping paper includes a relief pattern region having a patterned embossing structure formed in the depth of the material of the tipping paper. The embossed tipping paper further includes at least one plain region adjacent to the relief pattern region, the at least one plain region not having an embossing structure formed in the depth of the material of the tipping paper. A sequence of ventilation holes is formed in the at least one plain region. The embossed tipping paper has a substantially rectangular shape and the at least one plain region forms a band of fixed width running between two parallel edges of the substantially rectangular shape.
The invention relates to a method for marking a wrapping paper for smoking articles, comprising the following steps: (A) providing a wrapping paper for smoking articles, the wrapping paper comprising pulp fibers, and (B) producing markings on the wrapping paper by means of at least one of the following steps: (B.1) removing material from the wrapping paper, (B.2) mechanically changing the wrapping paper, (B.3) treating the surface of the wrapping paper with laser radiation having an energy density y in J-m.sup.2, to which the following applies: y=kx. x is the enthalpy of combustion per volume of the wrapping paper in J-m.sup.2 m-1, and k is at least 8 m, preferably at least 7 m and especially preferably at least 6 m, and at most 1 m, preferably at most 2 m and especially preferably at most 2.5 m. Either repeating structures are produced on the wrapping paper in a step (C) such that each structure is at a fixed distance in the machine direction relative to at least one marking, or in step (A) a wrapping paper is provided which has repeating structures in the machine direction, and the markings are produced on the wrapping paper in step (B) in such a way that each marking is at a fixed distance in the machine direction relative to at least one structure.
