ELASTIC CONTACT ELEMENT FOR WRAPPING A SHEET AROUND A GROUP OF SEGMENTS

A wrapping device 1 for wrapping a sheet 3 around a group 5 of segments comprises a wrapping conveyor 7 and a contact element 25. The wrapping conveyor 7 comprises a conveyor surface 9 for receiving the group 5 of segments. The contact element 25 provides a counter surface 31. The counter surface 31 is arranged at a distance to the conveyor surface 9 of the wrapping conveyor 7. The counter surface 31 faces the conveyor surface 9 of the wrapping conveyor 7. The counter surface 31 is configured to engage the group 5 of segments and the sheet 3 when the group 5 of segments is moved along the counter surface 31 by the wrapping conveyor 7 to cause rotation of the group 5 of segments to wrap the group 5 of segments with the sheet 3. At least a first portion 41 of the contact element 25 comprising at least a first part 35 of the counter surface 31 is formed by a first material being an elastic material having a shore hardness between 30 A and 70 A.

Activated carbon beads for smoking articles

Smoking article include a smokable material and an activated carbon particle downstream of the smokable material. The activated carbon particle is produced from a whole seed. The activated carbon particle has a length, width and height. At least two of the length width and height are independently in a range from about 1 mm to about 7.5 mm. The particles can be spheroids, in which case the length, width and height would be the same or similar.

Compound horizontal filter assembly machine and process

An apparatus and processes for producing compound cigarette filters by horizontally assembling multiple filter segments onto the horizontally oriented transverse flutes of a continuous belt. Spaced apart hoppers are serially arranged above the belt, and each hopper contains at least one of the multiple segments of the compound filter being assembled. A transfer structure between each hopper and the belt serially delivers the filter segments to the flutes on the belt, and after such assembly the various filter segments are removed as a group from each flute of the continuous belt. The filter segments are then combined as a group with wrapped tobacco rods to thereby produce filtered cigarettes.

Apparatus and method for manufacturing tobacco industry products

Embodiments disclosed herein relate to an apparatus (1) for use in the manufacture of tobacco industry products. The apparatus (1) comprises a rolling unit (9) comprising: •a rotatable drum (14) having a plurality of flutes (18) formed in a curved outer surface (17) of the drum (14) to receive axially-aligned components (5,6) of a tobacco industry product; •a roll hand (15) having a contact surface (34) facing and spaced from the outer surface (17) of the drum (14) to define a space, between the contact surface (34) and the outer surface (17), within which space components of a tobacco industry product are rollable upon rotation of the drum (14); and •a kicker bar (16) disposed adjacent to the roll hand (15) and having a contact edge (36) facing and spaced from the outer surface (17) of the drum (17). At least one of the roll hand contact surface (34), kicker bar contact edge (36) and drum outer surface (17) includes a groove (31, 32, 33) extending in a substantially circumferential direction of the drum (14) and configured to least partially receive one or more of the tobacco industry product components as the drum (14) rotates.

Method for producing smoking articles

A method for producing smoking articles, in particular cigarettes, each comprising a respective first tobacco rod portion; the method comprises the step of cutting a second rod portion, which is four times the length of the first rod portion, crosswise so as to obtain third rod portions, which are twice the length of the first rod portion; the third rod portions are offset and aligned so as to be fed in succession; the speed at which the third rod portions are conveyed before the offsetting procedure is smaller than the speed at which they are conveyed after the offsetting procedure.

Non-sticking tipping paper, preparation method and application method of the same

A non-sticking lip tipping paper is disclosed that includes a base paper, a color layer and a surface coating. The color layer is formed by printing and drying a color ink on the base paper; the surface coating includes a water-based glue and is coated thereon after drying the color layer. The water-based glue includes the following components by weight: 30-65 parts of a modified water-based resin solution, 10-20 parts of water, 8-15 parts of ethanol, and 5-12 parts of a water-based additive. The water-based additive is a mixture of a wax emulsion and magnesium silicate in a weight ratio of 1:5. A preparation method and a method of applying the non-sticking lip tipping paper are also disclosed.

A cigarette mouthpiece is described. Embodiments of the cigarette mouthpiece include cigarette mouthpiece made from a strip of flexible material having a varying width. A width of the strip of flexible material can help determine a length of a user engagement portion and a cigarette engagement portion of the cigarette mouthpiece. The cigarette mouthpiece can have a substantially circular cross-sectional shape and a diameter of the cigarette mouthpiece can be adjustable. Typically, an outside diameter of the cigarette engagement portion can be altered to fit into differently sized rolled cigarettes.
