TITANIUM DIOXIDE-FREE CIGARETTE TIPPING INKS
The present invention provides a method for printing high opacity images or coatings using solvent based inks comprising hollow polymeric microspheres, wherein the inks do not contain titanium dioxide. The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has classified titanium dioxide as “possibly carcinogenic to humans,” The method of the present invention allows one to avoid the use of inks that rely on titanium oxide for high opacity, which has become of importance for articles that come into contact with one's mouth, for example, cigarette tipping papers.
AEROSOL-GENERATING ARTICLE HAVING BRIDGING ELEMENT WITH BASIS WEIGHT
An aerosol-generating article (10) comprising a rod (20) comprising an aerosol-generating substrate (22); a filter (30) in axial alignment with the rod (20); a bridging element (40) comprising a first wrapper (42), the first wrapper circumscribing the rod (20) and the filter and securing the filter to the rod; and a cavity (44) located between the rod and the filter, the cavity (44) being partially delimited by the inner surface of the first wrapper (42) in a first portion of the bridging element (40), wherein the first portion of the bridging element (40) has a basis weight of 50 grams per square meter or greater.
TAGGANT DETECTION AND REJECTION METHOD AND APPARATUS
A method of manufacturing a component for an aerosol-generating article including a taggant is provided, the method including the steps of: applying the taggant to the component; detecting an amount of the taggant that the component comprises; determining whether the detected amount of the taggant is less than a first-predetermined amount; and rejecting the component when the detected amount of the taggant is less than the first-predetermined amount. An apparatus for manufacturing a component for an aerosol-generating article including a taggant is also provided. A kit of parts is also provided.
METHOD OF COATING TIPPING PAPER FOR SMOKING ARTICLE AND SMOKING ARTICLE MANUFACTURED ACCORDING THERETO
An embodiment of the present disclosure provides a smoking article including a smoking material portion which is wrapped with a smoking material wrapper, a filter portion which has an upstream end combined with the smoking material portion and is wrapped with a filter wrapper, and a tipping paper which wraps around the filter portion and at least a portion of the smoking material portion so that the smoking material portion and the filter portion are combined, wherein a design printing layer, an overprint (OP) coating layer, and a sweetener coating layer are disposed on a surface of the tipping paper.
Method for manufacturing mouthpiece lining paper
A method for producing a diffusion-optimized tipping paper for tobacco products, especially filter cigarettes, by plasma perforation of the web of tipping paper for the purpose of maximum carbon monoxide reduction, wherein the diffusivity and the permeability P of the perforated tipping paper are measured in-line and diffusivity is maximized by controlling the perforation parameters, the definable target permeability P.sub.soll being maintained at all times.

Aerosol generating article with improved mouth end cavity
An aerosol-generating article (10) comprising: an aerosol generating substrate (12); and a mouthpiece (14) disposed downstream of the aerosol-generating substrate (12). The mouthpiece (14) comprises a hollow tubular segment (24) at its downstream end defining a mouth end cavity (40), and the hollow tubular segment (24) comprises a hollow tube (31) of fibrous material, and a polymeric film (35) secured to the inner surface (311) of the hollow tube (31).
TIPPING PAPER TO WHICH TECHNOLOGY FOR REDUCING TOBACCO SMELL ON FINGERS IS APPLIED AND SMOKING ARTICLE INCLUDING THE SAME, AND METHOD OF PRODUCING THE TIPPING PAPER
An embodiment of the present invention provides a tipping paper for smoking articles. The tipping paper includes a fragrance carrier including a fragrance material and a carrier material, the carrier material includes the fragrance material, and the fragrance material included in the carrier material is disseminated from the tipping paper in response to moisture, saliva, or friction, and the carrier material is a material soluble in ethanol.
Tipping Wrapper for aerosol Generating Article
A tipping wrapper for aerosol generating articles has a base layer with a porosity of less than 1.5 C.U., wherein the base layer contains at least one filler material, the tipping wrapper further including a surface which is pigmented with a pigment component which contains CaCO.sub.3 and at least a second component serving as a non-combustible filler, the pigment component having a grammage of at least 2.0 gsm, wherein the pigmented surface has a surface smoothness of at least 400 sec. A method for producing a tipping wrapper for cigarettes includes providing a base layer of the tipping wrapper, and coating the base layer with a solution containing a filler component, wherein the coated base layer is pressed and heated at a predefined temperature which is greater than 100° C.
ELONGATED SMOKING ARTICLE
The present invention relates to an elongated smoking article (100) (100) that extends in a longitudinal direction (L) and comprises a cylindrical smoking body (10) with a combustible material (11) that is surrounded by a wrapping paper (12). The smoking article (100) further comprises a filter element (20) that is configured to reduce substances from combustion gases drawn through the filter element (20) from the burning smoking body (10). A tipping paper (30) is circumscribing the smoking body (10) and the filter element (20) and is attached to external surfaces (13, 21) of the smoking body (10) and the filter element (20). According to the invention, a flavoring (80) is disposed in or on the tipping paper (30) with a distribution that varies in a circumferential direction (C) of the tipping paper (30), such that the amount and/or type of flavoring (80) contacting a smoker's lips (90) depends on a rotational state of the elongated smoking article (100) with respect to the circumferential direction (C).
