The filter for cigarette product includes a mouthpiece end side-filter material and a front stage-filter material. The mouthpiece end side-filter material has a low air flow-resistance unit that is arranged in a part of a cross section from a front end surface to a rear end surface and having a relatively low air flow-resistance, and a high air flow-resistance unit that is arranged in the remainder of the cross section from the front end surface to the rear end surface and having a higher air flow-resistance than the low air flow-resistance unit. At least on the rear end surface of the mouthpiece end side-filter material, the low air flow-resistance unit is arranged only in one semicircular area, of two parts into which the cross section of the mouthpiece end side-filter material is divided.

Additional filter device for cigarettes with fiber filter to reduce the passage of tar into the smoker’s mouth, thus reducing toxicity due to the combustion of the paper/tobacco mixture of the cigarette. Includes a laminar cylindrical body coaxially located between two sections of the cigarette fiber filter. The longitudinal middle area of the cylindrical body houses a transverse laminar disc having three holes, through which the smoke generated by the tobacco combustion and wrapping paper passes. The holes of the disc are equidistant from each other and are placed in a triangular configuration. The proximal and distal ends of the cylindrical body have annular flaps, which separate the disc from the fiber filter sections, and formed between these flaps and the disc, respective first and second air chambers where a high percentage of toxic substances contained in the smoke generated during the combustion of tobacco and wrapping paper is retained.

The passage has a diameter of about 1.0 mm or greater. In one embodiment, the rod end filter segment is comprised of an infinite pressure drop material. In another embodiment, the rod end filter segment is comprised of a low pressure drop material having a hollow tubular element disposed within to define the passage with an inner diameter greater than about 1.55 mm. Air dilution means are disposed in one of said filter segments to admit ventilating air into the filter.

AEROSOL-GENERATING ARTICLE COMPRISING AN AEROSOL-COOLING ELEMENT WITH AN ELONGATED PROTRUSION

An aerosol-generating article is provided, including a rod of aerosol-generating substrate; an aerosol-cooling element downstream of the rod and including a hollow tubular segment including a peripheral wall, the segment extending along a longitudinal axis and having a downstream end in fluid communication with an upstream end, the segment further including at least one elongated protrusion extending from the peripheral wall into an interior of the segment, the protrusion extending longitudinally from an upstream position on the wall to a downstream position on the wall; and a wrapper circumscribing the rod and the aerosol-cooling element, the protrusion being a deflecting fin configured to change a direction of flow of an aerosol flowing from the upstream to the downstream end the segment, and the fin being twisted along a length of the segment.

AEROSOL-GENERATING ARTICLE COMPRISING A MOUTH-END COOLING ELEMENT

An aerosol-generating article is provided, including: a rod of aerosol-generating substrate including an aerosol former, the substrate having an aerosol former content of greater than 10 percent on a dry weight basis; a hollow tubular support element positioned immediately downstream of the rod; an aerosol-cooling element downstream of the support element, the aerosol-cooling element extending all the way to a downstream end of the article, the aerosol-cooling element including a hollow tubular segment having a transverse wall at a location between an upstream end and a downstream end of the hollow tubular segment, such that it defines a first cavity upstream of the transverse wall and a second cavity downstream of the transverse wall, and the transverse wall including one or more openings establishing a fluid communication between the first cavity and the second cavity.

Droplet Size Management through Vortex Generation

A vortex generator in the air flow path, within a pod for use with a vaporizer, interrupts laminar air flow to create a vortex within the air flow, allowing entrained droplets above of threshold size to be favorably removed from the air flow. The creation of a vortex modifies the air flow path to include turns, which are somewhat resisted by droplets having larger size and thus a higher momentum. As the droplets above a threshold size rotate in the vortex, they have an increased likelihood to be pushed out of the airflow and into the walls of a post wick air flow passage, whereby they are removed from the airflow.

COOLING FILTER ROD AND APPLICATION THEREOF

A cooling filter rod and an application thereof are disclosed. The filter rod comprises a hollow tube (1). The inside of the hollow tube (1) is provided with at least one plate (2) which partition the inside of the hollow tube and is perpendicular to the axis of the hollow tube (1). The area of the plate (2) is the same as the cross-sectional area of a hollow portion of the hollow tube (1) Each plate (2) is independently provided with at least one through hole (3). The cooling filter rod reduces the adsorption of cigarette smoke, greatly lowers the smoke temperature felt by mouth, improves the sensory quality of cigarettes, and is suitable for application in new heat-not-burn cigarettes.
