A device for grinding and mixing of herbs and/or tobacco and/or spices, preparing and dispensing of cigarettes is disclosed. The device includes a single removable grinder/mixing unit 1200 that is extractable from the device and storable in a separate container 1600. The modular function enables convenient removal of any remaining herbs and/or tobacco and/or spices from the device for storage, and permits use of another grinder/mixing unit 1200 in the device for the grinding and mixing of other material.

Devices and methods for controlling humidity including an aqueous saturated solution of a salt and/or a sugar in combination with an additive in which all components of the saturated solution are food grade. The device may or may not include a container, such as a flexible pouch, encasing the aqueous saturated solution and/or an absorbent pad. The pouch or other container may be made of a material which is moisture permeable and liquid impermeable, for example, and the aqueous saturated solution further comprises a thickening agent. A humidifying insert for a smoking article packaging has a planar shape, is insertable into a smoking article packaging and includes a humidifying agent and a humidity transmitter, which transfers the humidifying agent from the humidifying insert into the inner volume of the smoking article packaging. A storage compartment, in which the humidifying agent is stored, has a fluidic connection to the humidity transmitter, wherein the fluidic connection is blocked with a breakable barrier. A method for humidifying smoking articles is also provided.

A humidifying insert for a smoking article packaging has a planar shape, is insertable into a smoking article packaging and includes a humidifying agent and a humidity transmitter, which transfers the humidifying agent from the humidifying insert into the inner volume of the smoking article packaging. A storage compartment, in which the humidifying agent is stored, has a fluidic connection to the humidity transmitter, wherein the fluidic connection is blocked with a breakable barrier. A method for humidifying smoking articles is also provided.

Embodiments disclosed herein provide a moistening device for a smoking unit, comprising: a body defining a housing sized to receive the smoking unit; a gas source tank having a sealable inlet, the gas source tank fluidly connectible to the housing for passage of gas; a heating element operable on the gas source tank; and a power unit operably connectible to the heating element. The gas source tank can be fluidly connectible to the housing for passage of gas via at least one hole that restricts passage of liquid. A method is provided for moistening a smoking unit, the method comprising: retaining the smoking unit in an enclosed housing; generating gas in the housing from an attached liquid source; and restricting liquid flow from the attached liquid source to the housing.
