Systems and Methods for Thermoelectric Body Cooling
Multiple embodiments of a system are disclosed to draw heat away from the body through the palm, back of the hand, or forehead using a thermoelectric device. In doing so, the core body temperature may be lessened, allowing for quicker muscle recovery and better physical performance during exercise and/or during rest breaks between periods of exercise.
Cooling garments, warming garments, and related methods
The present disclosure generally relates to intelligent garments that provide thermal regulation in a variety of environments. The garments may include different layers such as a hydrophobic layer in direct contact with a wearer's skin surface and saturated with an aqueous mixture, a spacer layer, a reflective layer, and an outer hydrophobic layer. The layers of the garment may work together to reduce the metabolic expenditure of the wearer in extreme environmental conditions or during demanding physical activity. A variety of sensors may be displaced throughout the garments so as to enable the collection of data associated with wearers as well as environmental conditions. Wearers may control the thermal balance and other properties of the garments as desired.

AN ELECTRICAL ACTIVE ASSEMBLY AND A CLOTHING ASSEMBLY COMPRISING THE SAME
The invention relates to an electrical active assembly for generating a physical effect such as heat, cold or humidity, and a textile assembly, such as a clothing assembly, including said electrical active assembly, with an application to a system for regulating the temperature or humidity of a user's body.
The electrical assembly comprises a first textile support, a first active element 1 for generating the physical effect, connected to a power source, and located on or in the first textile support, a first sensor 2 for sensing data relative to a physical information, such as temperature or humidity, connected to a power source, and located on or in the first textile support, and a first controlling unit 3 connected to the first active element and sensor, and located on or in the first textile support, such as to allow the activation/deactivation by the first controlling unit of the first active element depending on data sensed by the first sensor.
The electrical assembly also comprises a second textile support distinct from the first textile support, a second active element 4 for generating said physical effect, connected to a power source, and located on or in the second textile support, a second sensor 5 for sensing data relative to the physical information, connected to a power source, and located on or in the second textile support, and a second controlling unit 6 connected to the second active element and sensor, and located on or in said second textile support, such as to allow the activation/deactivation by the second controlling unit of the second active element depending on data sensed by the second sensor.
The first controlling unit is connected to the second active element and sensor, such as to allow the activation/deactivation by the first controlling unit of the second active element depending on data sensed by the second sensor and/or by the first sensor, and/or the second controlling unit is connected to the first active element and sensor, such as to allow the activation/deactivation by the second controlling unit of the first active element depending on data sensed by the first sensor and/or by the second sensor.
A TEXTILE ELEMENT SUCH AS A CLOTHING
The invention relates to a textile element, such as a clothing, aimed at covering a part of a body, such as a human body, with a particular application to a clothing for generating a physical effect, such as heat or cold, to the part of the body.
The textile element 1 forms an envelop 1 aimed at covering at least partially a part of a body, said textile element comprising a textile support and body part detection means 2 located on or in said textile support, said body part detection means 2 being configured to detect the presence and/or absence of said part of a body inside the envelop 1 and to generate a detection signal when presence and/or absence of said part of a body inside the envelop 1 is detected.
FRICTION-BASED TACTILE SENSOR FOR MEASURING GRIP SECURITY
A system for assessing grip security, the system comprising: a contact surface having at least a first contact surface region and a second contact surface region, the first contact surface region being configured to resist slip less than the second contact surface region, a sensor for detecting slip in the first contact region.
PALM COOLING GLOVE TO ENHANCE HEAT TRANSFER/REMOVAL
Palm cooling gloves and similar articles are disclosed which may be worn during exercise or when exposed to warm ambient temperatures. Unlike other items related to thermal exchange, the disclosed devices provide for intermittent cooling in order to ultimately increase the overall rate and magnitude of conductive heat loss from the human body. According to an example embodiment, gloves are provided with high thermal conductivity for rapid rates of heat transfer when the palm is to be cooled, and low thermal conductivity when the palm is not to be cooled. During non-cooling periods, a cooling agent is temporarily stored within a compartment located on the back (dorsal aspect) of the glove. The compartment is comprised of materials with a low thermal conductivity so that the cooling agent retains more of its cold, which allows it to be used repeatedly when palm cooling is again needed to rid the body of excess heat. With a glove that offers both scenarios, users can engage in intermittent palm cooling and reap the benefits of excess body heat removal/transfer.
FRICTION-BASED TACTILE SENSOR FOR MEASURING GRIP SECURITY
A system for estimating friction, the system including a contact surface including a plurality of protrusions extending from a base surface, the contact surface further including a first contact surface region and a second contact surface region, the first contact surface region being configured to resist slip less than the second contact surface region, and a sensor arrangement configured for detecting displacement of at least three of the plurality of protrusions in three different dimensions to measure a three-dimensional force applied to the at least three plurality of protrusions at a moment of slippage of the first contact surface region.
