Welder's Garment Assembly
20230045178 · 2023-02-09 ·

A welder's garment assembly for protecting a welder from heat and electricity includes a garment that can be worn by a user. The garment is comprised of a pair of insulating layers that are sandwiched between a pair of covering layers. Each of the insulating layers is comprised of an energy absorbing material to protect the user during welding. A respective one of the covering layers is comprised of a resilient material to protect the insulating layers from abrasion. Furthermore, a respective one of the covering layers is comprised of a deformable material for enhancing comfort for wearing the garment.

Ultra-hard carbon film from epitaxial two-layer graphene

An ultra-hard carbon film is formed by the uniaxial compression of thin films of graphene. The graphene films are two or three layers thick (2-L or 3-L). High pressure compression forms a diamond-like film and provides improved properties to the coated substrates.

Multi-threat protection composite
11707100 · 2023-07-25 · ·

A multi-threat protection composite containing at least 15 textile layers having an upper and lower surface and a non-blocking pressure sensitive adhesive (NonB-PSA) composition on at least the upper surface of each textile layer. The NonB-PSA coating contains a pressure sensitive adhesive and a plurality of first inorganic particles, wherein the ratio by weight of the first inorganic particles to the pressure sensitive adhesive is greater than about 1.2 and wherein the NonB-PSA coating is in an amount of at least about 10 g/m.sup.2 on each surface the NonB-PSA coating is located. The first inorganic particles have a median primary particle size of less than about 5 micrometers.

ARTICLE OF APPAREL INCLUDING PROTECTIVE PANELS
20230000185 · 2023-01-05 ·

An article of apparel includes protective padding adapted to contour to the wearer. In an embodiment, the protective panel is a multilayered panel including a foam layer, a fabric layer, and a bonding layer located between the foam layer and the fabric layer. The foam layer may be formed of auxetic foam. Alternatively or in addition to, the bonding layer may be a film including a plurality of openings, and each of the openings defines a reentrant shape.

Personal armor resistant to sharp or pointed weaponry

According to exemplary inventive practice, a personal armor system includes a textile-based layer not exceeding ½-half-inch thickness, and an elastomeric coating not exceeding ⅛-inch thickness. The textile-based layer includes a fiber reinforcement and a resin binder. The combined areal density of the textile-based layer and the elastomeric coating does not exceed 2.5 psf. According to a first mode of inventive practice, the elastomeric coating is essentially a strain-rate-sensitivity-hardening elastomer, and the areal density of the textile-based layer does not exceed 2.3 psf. According to a second mode of inventive practice, the elastomeric coating is essentially a microparticle-filled strain-rate-sensitivity-hardening elastomeric matrix material, and the areal density of the textile-based layer does not exceed 1.7 psf. The microparticles (e.g., spherical glass microparticles) do not exceed, by weight, 30 percent of the strain-rate-sensitivity-hardening elastomeric matrix material. The textile-based layer affords ballistic protection; the elastomeric coating affords protection against sharp/pointed objects.

Fabric having a cut-resistant coating comprising para-aramid particles

A fabric comprising a cut-resistant polymeric coating including by weight 1 to 10 percent para-aramid particles, the particles having an average particle size of 20 to 500 microns.

Zoned Insulation Garment

Aspects herein relate to a garment having zoned insulation features. The zoned insulation features comprise projections that extend in the z-direction with respect to the surface of a base material forming the garment such that the projections face toward a body surface of a wearer when the garment is worn. The number and/or size of the projections may vary over the garment depending on the amount of insulation needed in different areas of the garment.

Multi-Layered Protective Covering and Uses Thereof

Provided herein are multi-layered protective coverings, wearable multi-layered protective devices, and methods of using the multi-layered protective coverings and wearable multi-layered protective devices.

PREDATOR REACTIVE MULTI-LAYER REPELLANT DEVICE

A multilayer protective device such as, but not limited to, a garment such as a vest or arm or leg wrap, a bag, a backpack, wraps for tents, camping items, etc. designed to be worn by domesticated or farm animals of various sizes and/or humans or placed on objects for which predator attack is to be deterred. The multilayer protective device is made from a multi-layered composite textile containing a non-toxic, non-lethal repellant substance such that upon a bite from an attacking animal, the non-toxic, non-lethal repellant substance is released deterring the attacking animal for such a time as to allow the wearer or user of the protective device to escape or be rescued.

Holding for body mounted armor
09752854 · 2017-09-05 · ·

An assembly structured for removably mounting armor on a user's body in a protective orientation including a base having an inner portion and an outer portion. The inner portion is structured to retain the armor, preferably but not exclusively, in the form of an armor plate on the base in substantially facing relation to the body of the user, wherein the outer portion is disposed in overlying, covering relation to the armor. Preferably the base is formed of a rigid material and an attachment assembly is connected to the base and structured to facilitate the operative and removable mounting of the base and the armor on the user in a predetermined protective orientation. The attachment assembly may also include a plurality of connectors and a common release mechanism, wherein the base and the armor can be quickly and easily removed from its protective orientation and operative mounting on the user.
