A magnetic apparel cinch apparatus for securely gathering or taking up slack or adjusting a hem in an article of clothing is provided. A magnetic first member and a magnetic second member coupled via a link strap are featured. A user may gather a portion of the article of clothing and secure said gathering by meeting the first member and the second member such that the portion of the article of clothing gathered by the user is secured in place by the link strap. The magnets in the apparel cinch clip are permanently secured in the first member and the second member to ensure best use, user safety, and to avoid damage to the magnets.

A retaining strap for a trouser leg includes a band of stretchable fabric arranged, in use, to loop around the circumference of a user's foot, and at least one attachment device arranged to releasably attach the band to the trouser leg.
