The present invention relates to a novel apparel repair tool. The device is an adjustable tool for replacing buttons, fasteners or other adornments. There is provided an apparatus for attaching an item to a substrate, using a prong ring with a ring and two or more prongs. When attached, the prongs extends from the ring on a first side of the substrate through such substrate and being bent. A lower die is positioned to approach the first side of the substrate. An upper die is on a second side of the substrate. The substrate is placed in a manner substantially perpendicular to the attaching movement of the upper and lower dies and a first redirecting member for redirecting the prongs which are bent inwardly. Therefore, when the buttons are buttoned, it is possible to have the buttons move less, relative to the buttonholes, than in the past, and the buttons can stay buttoned more stably. As a result, the buttons are less likely to come undone inadvertently, and increasing the size of the buttonholes facilitates buttoning and unbuttoning of the buttons.

A button carrier/adaptor assembly includes an anchor section, to which is attached a head section, and to which is attached a decorative cap. The decorative cap can be a separate removable and replaceable component or incorporated into the head section. From an elevation view, the protrusion has a profile including a teardrop shaped distal section mounted to the base by a proximal shaft. The head section includes an upper mount portion and a hollow central shank that is partially hollow and includes an internal cavity from an open bottom end thereof. The internal cavity has an elevation profile which matches the profile of the shaped protrusion of the anchor section.

A button mounting device includes: a button mounting unit that comprises a first die holding the button main body and a second die holding the button mounting tool; an intermediate material formation unit that forms an intermediate material, which is to be interposed between the button main body and the cloth or between the button mounting tool and the cloth, by cutting a strip-shaped sheet material; and an intermediate material transfer unit that transfers the intermediate material formed by the intermediate material formation unit to the button mounting unit to supply the first die or the second die.

A button mounting device includes: a button mounting unit that comprises a first die holding the button main body and a second die holding the button mounting tool; an intermediate material formation unit that forms an intermediate material, which is to be interposed between the button main body and the cloth or between the button mounting tool and the cloth, by cutting a strip-shaped sheet material; and an intermediate material transfer unit that transfers the intermediate material formed by the intermediate material formation unit to the button mounting unit to supply the first die or the second die.
