An article of footwear is configured to enclose and comfortably engage a forefoot of a user. The article includes a sole having a forefoot portion and a rearfoot portion, a closed-toe, open-heel upper configured to substantially prevent lateral and forward movement of the forefoot with respect to the forefoot portion, the upper with a lower perimeter attached to a forefoot perimeter of the forefoot portion and defining an interior configured to receive the forefoot of the user, and a stanchion extending upwardly through the interior, the stanchion with a bottom attached to the forefoot portion of the sole and a top attached to the upper, wherein the stanchion is configured to extend between and engage adjacent toes of the user to substantially prevent movement of the forefoot with respect to the forefoot portion of the sole. A method of using the footwear with toe bar is also disclosed.

The present application provides a footwear for postoperative protection and rehabilitation. The protective footwear specifically structurally includes: a footwear body; an air bag system, provided at a position of the footwear body corresponding to a human metatarsal region; and a fixing frame, provided at the position of the footwear body corresponding to the human metatarsal region, wrapping a compressed air bag, and comprising a flat plate and two arc-shaped plates extending upward and inward from two sides of the flat plate; where, when a human foot is squeezed by gravity, air in a bottom air reservoir is squeezed into side-flap air reservoirs, such that the side-flap air reservoirs are inflated; and restricted by the fixing frame, the side-flap air reservoirs generate an inward pressure to the metatarsal region to reduce a tensile stress generated between metatarsals when the human foot moves. The footwear in the embodiments of the present application can replace a plaster cast to fix and protect the metatarsal region of the foot, and it is convenient to wear and disassemble without affecting postoperative examination and rehabilitation of the foot.

A footwear is provided for preventing or treating a pathological deformity of a wearers foot, comprising a toe strap for being fastened to the great toe, an upper for being fastened to a metatarsus region of the foot and comprising a lateral section and a medial section, and an adjustment mechanism comprising a tension element coupled to the toe strap and configured for variably adjusting a pulling force applied to the toe strap, wherein the adjustment mechanism is arranged in or on the lateral section of the upper such that the tension element is guided to a lateral side of the footwear.
