The present invention relates to rolls of an elongated material and to methods of manufacturing fastening tabs.

CONNECTION SYSTEM, CONNECTION ARRANGEMENT AND METHOD
20170297270 · 2017-10-19 ·

A connection system has a first adhesion segment, on which a first connection region is formed, a second adhesion segment, on which a second connection region is formed, and a solidifiable liquid connection substance for connecting the two adhesion segments in a material fit, wherein at least one of the two connection regions is formed flexibly, such that, when the liquid connection substance is introduced between the two connection regions which are opposite one another in an assembly arrangement of the two adhesion segments, a material connection is formed between the two connection regions automatically as a result of the elastocapillary effect via the liquid connection substance.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PRODUCING HOOK FASTENERS
20170265602 · 2017-09-21 · ·

Apparatus and process are described for forming projections on a substrate for use as hook-type fasteners in touch fastening systems, wherein vibration energy may be used to soften a substrate which may be positioned between a mold and a source of vibration. The mold may include a plurality of cavities into which the softened substrate may be forced to form the projections. The substrate may comprise a film, sheet, web, composite, laminate, etc. and be useful as an attachment strip for temporary or permanent fastening. The source of vibration may be an ultrasonic horn. The process to form such projections may be operated in a continuous, semi-continuous or intermittent manner.

Manufacturing method of resin articles

A manufacturing method of a resin article having a plurality of filamentous projections that are formed in a contact surface of a resin article body may include a thrusting step to thrust acute-angled leading edges of plate-shaped metal parts into the contact surface of the resin article body, a heating step to heat the plate-shaped metal parts before or during the thrusting step, and a pulling out step to pull out the plate-shaped metal parts in a condition in which portions of the resin material of the resin article body is melted around the leading edges of the plate-shaped metal parts and in which melted resin portions are formed on unmelted portions of the resin material of the resin article body.

MEDICAL DEVICE AND METHOD OF FABRICATION THEREOF

Disclosed is a medical device for use in surgery including at least one structured substrate including a plurality of structures, at least a portion of the plurality of structures being a plurality of ridges having each a length that is at least 5 times greater than their width. The ridges have at least two different cross-sections and have swellable properties, for example in the presence of water. The medical device includes at least a second substrate, including a second plurality of structures, the first and second plurality of structures being arranged to interlock when the first substrate is pressed against the second substrate in presence of water.

Fastener element shape

A touch fastener product having a base sheet with a resin side surface and a male touch fastener element having a head disposed at a distal end of a resin stem and overhanging the base sheet. The head has an overall shape, as projected in a plane parallel to the base sheet, with a perimeter that defines spaced apart extremities corresponding to head sections of different engagement characteristics and disposed at different distances from a centroid of the overall shape. In one example, the head projection has a polygonal perimeter consisting of straight edges of differing lengths connected at radiused corners. In another, the perimeter comprises an unbroken series of at least three arc segments of different curvatures, with centers of the arc segments disposed at different distances from the centroid.

Electronic devices incorporating flexible component layers with interlocking devices

Electronic Devices Incorporating Flexible Component Layers with Interlocking Devices At least some aspects of the present disclosure directs to an electronic device 100 comprising a rigid member 100A, 100B, a flexible component layer 130, and an interlocking device 110A, HOB disposed between the flexible component layer and the rigid member. The flexible component layer has at least two sections when the flexible component layer is flexed. The interlocking device comprises a first interlocking component attached to or integrated with the flexible component layer, and a second interlocking component attached to or integrated with the rigid member configured to engage with the first interlocking component, such that the engagement prevents the separation of the flexible component layer from the rigid member along a direction generally perpendicular to a surface of the rigid member.

Hook and loop artificial muscles

A method for manufacturing a separable artificial muscle fastener includes: securing one or more muscle loops of an artificial muscle fiber to a substrate such that at least a portion of the one or more muscle loops extends out from the substrate; annealing the artificial muscle fiber to retain the one or more muscle loops; and cutting and removing a portion of the one or more muscle loops to transform the one or more muscle loops into one or more muscle hooks. When the one or more muscle hooks are engaged with one or more holders, actuating the one or more muscle hooks disengages the one or more muscle hooks from the one or more holders.
