Flexible fastener for textiles

A flexible fastener includes a plurality of arrays of studs engaged with complimentary arrays of rings. The studs of each array are connected to diagonally adjacent studs via arms adjoining the stem of the stud. Interstitial recesses defined by the arms and stems are sized and configured to engage with the heads of studs on an engaging fastener piece. In embodiments, the fastener provides high tensile strength, continuous adjustment in two directions, and improved comfort when used in a garment. In some embodiments the fastener includes features which ensure alignment between pieces.

FASTENER HAVING RAIL SEGMENTS AND POSTS

The fastener includes a backing and rows of rail segments and rows of posts protruding perpendicularly from the backing. The rows of rail segments and rows of posts alternate. Each of the rail segments has a base portion attached to the backing and a cap portion distal from the backing. The cap portion has a cap width that is greater than a width of the base portion, and the cap portion overhangs the base portion on opposing sides. The base portion has a length that is greater than the width of the base portion. Each of the posts has a height that is no greater than a height of the rail segments and a length that is different from the length of the rail segments. A fastening system that includes the fastener and a package that includes the fastener are also described.

FASTENING SYSTEM WITH RAIL SEGMENTS AND BENDING POSTS

The fastening system includes first and second fastening members, each having a backing and rows of rail segments protruding from the backing. The rails segments have a base portion attached to the backing and a cap portion distal from the backing. The cap portion has a cap width that is greater than a width of the base portion. There are rows of posts protruding from the backing of at least the first fastening member. When the first and second fastening members undergo fastening, the posts bend away from the rail segments while the cap portions of the rail segments of the first and second fastening members pass by each other and then return to their original positions after the first and second fastening members are fastened. The fastening system attached to a portion of a package is also disclosed.

A reclosable fastener strip includes first and second strip halves each having a strip body and two hook units. Each hook unit has at least one pair of elongated hooks formed on a major surface of the strip body and cooperatively defining a recess therebetween. Each elongated hook is configured and dimensioned to permit being fitted securely in the recess of a corresponding pair of the elongated hooks so as to provide a suitable watertight seal.

A nose free glasses utility for eliminating the use of a nose to support glasses includes hook and loop fasteners adhered to a visor/brim of a hat which eliminates the need to use the bridge of a nose for support.

Flexible displays with interlocking devices

At least some aspects of the present disclosure feature a flexible display including a first layer and a second layer, a bonding layer disposed between the first layer and the second layer. The bonding layer includes an interlocking device. The interlocking device includes a first interlocking component and a second interlocking component configured to engage with the first interlocking component such that the engagement prevent the separation of the first layer from the second layer.

Interlocking Metasurfaces

Additive manufacturing (AM) can be used to fabricate a wide palette of interlocking metasurfaces (ILMs). ILMs can be architecturally tailored to achieve intentional engagement and disengagement forces, and are amenable to topological optimization. ILMs can be fabricated using nearly any AM process at different length scales according to the capabilities of the process. As a result, ILMs represent a new class of joining technology enabled by additive manufacturing that is complementary to traditional joining processes including fasteners, welds, adhesives, etc.

Connection system, connection arrangement and method

A connection system has a first adhesion segment, on which a first connection region is formed, a second adhesion segment, on which a second connection region is formed, and a solidifiable liquid connection substance for connecting the two adhesion segments in a material fit, wherein at least one of the two connection regions is formed flexibly, such that, when the liquid connection substance is introduced between the two connection regions which are opposite one another in an assembly arrangement of the two adhesion segments, a material connection is formed between the two connection regions automatically as a result of the elastocapillary effect via the liquid connection substance.

MOLDED FASTENER ELEMENTS WITH LATERAL WINGS

A fastener in the form of a flexible strip with a layer of resin having opposite longitudinal edges, and an array of discrete fastening elements carried on a surface of the flexible strip. Each fastening element has a resin stem extending upward from, and contiguous with, the layer of resin, the stem having opposite lateral side surfaces facing the edges of the flexible strip, and a wing protruding from one of the lateral side surfaces of the stem and spaced above the layer of resin. The wing defines an area in a vertical plane coincident with one of the side surfaces of the stem. As measured perpendicular to the layer of resin, the centroid of the area is closer to the lowermost point of the area than to the uppermost point of the area.
