Provided is an assembly for a nail pen comprising: a) a nib made from a material that is configured to allow for movement of varnish from inside of the nail pen to the nib, and from the nib to a nail; b) a guide made from a material that is non-absorbent to the varnish, the guide extending below a surface of the nib that is configured to apply varnish to the nail; wherein a user applies a strip of the varnish to a distal portion of the nail by holding the guide against an edge of the nail and moving the nail pen along the distal portion of the nail so that the surface of the nib holding the varnish contacts the distal portion of the nail to apply varnish to the nail.

A device for applying a French manicure to a person's hand includes a graspable body portion that a user may hold with one hand while applying polish to a fingernail of the other hand. An extension member extends from the body portion in a proximal direction, toward a fingernail. An applicator member extends from the upper portion of the body portion in a proximal direction such that a gap is provided between the extension member and the applicator member. When a user wants to paint a particular fingernail in the French manicure style, she places her nail in the gap with her fingertip abutting an end portion of the extension member. Provided is a nail pen for nail varnish application along a distal perimeter portion of a nail. The claimed invention obviates certain problems associated with the process of applying nail varnish onto the distal-only perimeter of a nail by presenting an apparatus and/or means for applying nail varnish in a controlled, uniform manner along the distal perimeter of a nail. The claimed invention provides a controlled means of disseminating a uniform strip of nail varnish along the distal perimeter of a nail. This desirable outcome is effectuated even for different varnish residue thicknesses and/or varnish colors. Also provided is a nail varnish applicator with a channel made from an impermeable material.

A nail printing apparatus comprising: a print head configured to perform printing on a nail of one of a finger of a hand and a toe of a foot; and a processor configured to detect, from a nail image captured of the nail of one of the finger and the toe, a nail area that is a target of the printing performed by the print head; wherein the processor is further configured to: divide the nail area into a first area on a nail root side of the nail and a second area on a nail free edge side of the nail to store information of the first area in a memory; and, in accordance that the information of the first area is stored in the memory, when detecting the nail area from the nail image, forgo detecting the first area, and reads out the information of the first area stored in the memory.
