The roller may be retained by upper and lower retainers engaged with each to hold the center of the roller in place between the retainers. The engagement of the retainers could be a threadable engagement between threads of each retainer and a user the ability to threadably disengage the two to remove and clean the roller. The lower retainer could have an inner surface extending away from the handle outwardly and concavely, and the upper retainer could have aperture and an inner surface extending away from the aperture outwardly and concavely. The lower retainer could include an aperture and be a mirror image of the upper retainer. Where the roller is a sphere, the lower retainer may be shaped as an outer surface of a hemisphere. As a solution, a makeup brush bristle material is provided that comprises S-twisted or Z-twisted core-sheath complex monofilaments whose core part is constituted by synthetic resin A and sheath part is constituted by synthetic resin B that differs in type from synthetic resin A, characterized in that the cross-section of the core-sheath complex monofilaments in the direction orthogonal to the axis of fiber has a cocoon shape.

An applicator for mascara having an oblong general shape extending along a main axis, the applicator including at least three branches distributed around the main axis so as to define a cavity between them inside the applicator. The branches extend between a base to which they are connected and a free end of the applicator, which is remote from the base, and are shaped such that the cavity has a form of a surface of revolution around the main axis, said cavity being open by spaces formed between said branches. The branches extend in helical form around the main axis. The invention so developed makes it possible to obtain an applicator for mascara providing high autonomy by virtue of an internal cavity, the general three-dimensional configuration of which provides a good level of flexibility and enables easy application to the eyelashes.

Handles for use with a substance applicator are described. The handles can include a handle portion and a neck portion. The handle portion can include a curved top surface and a curved bottom surface. The neck portion can include an opening to receive a portion of the substance applicator such that when the portion of the substance applicator is inserted into the opening, a user can use the handle to hold the substance applicator when applying a substance to a nail of the user.

A cosmetic container with an application member includes a cylindrical barrel, a core, a bottle that is configured to accommodate cosmetic and has an opening, a sleeve, and a joint that has an opening portion and a closed portion. The sleeve is configured to expose the application member or cover an outer circumference of the application member by a sliding operation of the sleeve. When the sleeve slides for exposing the application member, the opening portion overlaps with the opening so that the cosmetic passes through the opening portion and the opening. When the sleeve slides for covering the outer circumference of the application member, the closed portion overlaps with the opening to prevent the cosmetic from passing through between the joint and the bottle.

A break-open single-dose package includes a panel defining a frangible region, one or more sheets coupled to the panel and defining a pocket therebetween for storing a spreadable consumable, and an applicator. The frangible region is adapted to form an opening through which the spreadable consumable can exit in response to folding of the panel. The applicator includes a backing and a vessel extending from the backing. The vessel defines a channel for receiving any spreadable consumable that exits the pocket. The applicator is positioned adjacent to the frangible region for permitting a user to spread on a surface any spreadable consumable that exits the pocket using the applicator without requiring the user's hand(s) to contact the spreadable consumable. A device for applying a cosmetic product. The device includes a handling cap for holding, moving and maneuvering the device. The device also includes a rod portion having a first end associated with the handling cap and a second end section having a second end portion that terminates the device. The device further includes an application portion extending along a main axis and having a support member with two ends and radial application members. The application portion is hingedly mounted in an articulation zone by, for example, a rack and toothed wheel on a second end portion of the rod portion and about a pivot axis. The application portion can thereby be pivoted between a centered position and an inclined position. The articulation zone, rack and toothed wheel and the pivot axis may be spaced apart in a median section of the support member.
