Support apparatus
A support apparatus for supporting padding of seating and/or lounging furniture that has a base body with spring elements for flat support of the padding and a loading/relief apparatus for achieving pressure loading or relief on the padding. The loading/relief apparatus acts on a spring element to achieve pressure loading or relief. The loading/relief apparatus has an electric motor in operative connection with at least one pressure element by which a pressure force is exerted or exertable on a spring element to achieve pressure loading or relief. The loading/relief apparatus has a first carriage in drive connection with an electric motor and is translationally movable in the longitudinal direction of the support apparatus. The first carriage bears at least one arm whose free end carries the pressure element for load/relief of the spring elements.
Stiffness adjustment device
The invention relates to the field of furnishing. In particular, the invention relates to a stiffness adjustment device movable between an interference position for imposing a restriction on the deformation of a seat, back or bedding spring, and a non-interference position for releasing the spring from the restriction. The stiffness adjustment device comprises a resilient element, e.g. such as a flexible blade and, as it moves between the interference and non-interference positions it passes through an intermediate position in which the resilient element is subjected to resilient bending that is greater than in the interference and non-interference positions.
Body support cushion having multiple layers of phase change material
A body support cushion, e.g., mattress, has multiple foam layers, including a viscoelastic foam layer and a reticulated foam layer, and an outer cover. At least one of the foam layers and the outer cover each includes phase change material having latent heat properties that provide two intervals of dermal cooling.
Element of adjustable stiffness for beds or seats
The invention relates to the field of beds or seats. In particular, the invention relates to a flexible element (10) stiffness that is adjustable stiffness along a compression axis (Z), the element including a compression spring (50). In order to enable the stiffness of the stiffness element (10) to be adjusted, it further comprises both a mechanism (150) coupled to the compression spring (50) so as to be actuated by compression of the compression spring (50) along the compression axis (Z) to move in a direction other than the direction of the compression axis (Z), and also an adjustment device for selectively restricting or releasing the movement of the mechanism (150). The invention also provides a unit (200) comprising a plurality of such flexible elements (10), and a method of adjusting the stiffness of the flexible element (10).
Arrangements with resting units with adjustable lying and sitting surfaces as well as method for controlling resting units
An arrangement having at least one resting unit (B; Hyx) each having a lying/sitting surface (B1) and an actuator (A; A1 . . . ), configured to act on the lying/sitting surface, to adjust a height and/or firmness profile (V1, . . . ). An input value (KG), which corresponds to the standard size of an article of clothing representing a given person in a clothing size system is specified via at least one input unit (EE). A control device (S) derives a control signal (SL) from the input value and outputs the control signal to the actuator, so that the actuator autonomously presets a height/firmness profile, which is adapted to physical body parameters of the person represented by the clothing size, in the lying/sitting surface. A data network (DNi) enables the control unit to output control signals (SLyx) to the actuator of a resting unit (Hyx) selected for the person in such an arrangement.
Electronically controlled slat bed and method of operation thereof
An electronically controlled slat bed includes a bed frame; slats together at least partially forming a base for a sleeping surface; struts coupled to the slats, and each strut coupled to said bed frame; jackscrews, each coupled to at least one strut to adjust the coupled strut; flexible apparatuses coupled to one of said jackscrews; a gantry coupled to said bed frame, the gantry having an electric motor; and a sensor; the motor is to engage and rotate the jackscrews; and said sensor is to provide a measurement of a deflection of the flexible apparatuses; and an electronic controller, having an input to receive signals from the sensor; and one or more outputs to control said electric motor; said electronic controller performs computations at least partially responsive to said measurement of the deflection of said flexible apparatuses and modifies the shape of said base for the sleeping surface by rotating one or more of the plurality of jackscrews; and the deflection of one of the flexible apparatuses is responsive to a weight load applied to one of the jackscrews coupled to one of the flexible apparatuses.
