A chamber wall (20) impervious to the liquid defines the infusion chamber. In the chamber wall is a passage (21) between the infusion chamber and an exterior (5) thereof. The passage has an open state in which the infusion chamber is in liquid communication with the exterior, to transport the substances from the infusion chamber into liquid in the exterior during brewing tea. In a close state the infusion chamber inside is closed off from liquid in the exterior to stop a concentration of the substances in the liquid in the exterior from increasing. A manual control manually controllable by a human-being allows to bring the passage from the open state into the closed state.

Brewing apparatus and methods have a body, a movable member in the body, concentric relatively sliding tubes or a tube and a rod. A first tube or rod is attached to the body. A second tube or rod is attached to the movable member. A substance is placed in the body. The body is lifted and lowered into a brewing vessel using the first tube. After brewing, the second tube lowers the movable member to compress the substance. The first member lifts the body and places it on a caddy stand. Cooperating projections, depressions, detents and receivers align and snap the body on the caddy stand with the body and tubes held vertically.

Brewing apparatus and methods have a body, a movable member in the body, concentric relatively sliding tubes or a tube and a rod. A first tube or rod is attached to the body. A second tube or rod is attached to the movable member. A substance is placed in the body. The body is lifted and lowered into a brewing vessel using the first tube. After brewing, the second tube lowers the movable member to compress the substance. The first member lifts the body and places it on a caddy stand. A tea cup with an integral infusion instrument, the infusion instrument comprising: a sieve filled with tea, and allowing liquid to flow through it while filtering the tea; a neck connected in its bottom side to the sieve, and terminating with knob at its top side; and a cover, wherein in a closed state, the cover covers the sieve, hindering flow of liquid between the cup and the tea within the sieve, and wherein pushing the knob causes downward motion of the neck and the sieve such that the cover no longer hinders the flow of liquid between the cup and the tea within the sieve.
