A device for drying and polishing items such as glasses and cutlery, the device including an enclosure having apertures through which an end of the items can be inserted; a plurality of movable cleaning elements within the enclosure for drying and/or polishing the items; and a selectively operable steam distribution system for applying steam within the enclosure to at least one of the cleaning elements and/or the items, whereby the cleaning elements dry or polish the items, wherein the steam distribution system is operable on insertion of an end of said items into the enclosure.

The present invention relates to a dishwasher. An ultrasonic cleaning apparatus with a cleaning reservoir having a plurality of chambers, which are selectably fillable with cleaning fluid. The chambers of the multi-chamber reservoir are fluidly interconnectable, the apparatus further comprising a fluid distribution pump and a controller for sequentially controlling a fluid flow between the chambers during an ultrasonic cleaning cycle. Such a multi-chamber reservoir has the advantage of reducing the total volume of fluid required to clean vessels in the reservoir, since the cleaning process can be performed in a staged or sequential procedure, and the cleaning and/or rinsing fluid reused in each chamber, allowing the apparatus to be more compact.

The dishwasher includes a case accommodating a cleaning target therein, a sump connected to an interior of the case to collect wash water, a wash pump into which the wash water flows from the sump, and generating steam, a steam nozzle into which the steam flows from the wash pump, and spraying the steam into the case, and a bubble filter disposed on a steam path between the wash pump and the steam nozzle to remove a bubble in the steam path.
