Turbidity Sensor Assembly Including an Integral Water Level Indicator
A turbidity sensor assembly for a dishwasher appliance is provided. The turbidity sensor assembly measures the turbidity of wash fluid in a manner similar to conventional turbidity sensors, but also includes an integral water level indicator. The water level indicator is an opaque buoyant ball that rises and falls with the water level to provide a water level indication that can be used to shut off the drain pump when the sump is empty. More specifically, when the water level drops below a predetermined level, the opaque ball blocks the transmission of light between the emitter and receiver of the turbidity sensor, thus indicating that the sump is almost empty. As a result, the pump operating during a drain cycle need only operate long enough to drain the sump, and this may be achieved without an additional measuring device or complicated control system.
SYSTEM COMPRISING A DISHWASHER, AND METHOD FOR OPERATING A DISHWASHER
A system includes a dishwasher accommodating an item to be washed, a control device carrying out a washing program of a number of washing programs for washing the item, an optical sensor acquiring an optical sensor signal of the item, and a determining unit determining a possibility for washing the item as a function of the acquired sensor signal. The possibility for washing is embodied as a first positive possibility for washing that specifies which one of the washing programs is useable to wash the item, or as a second positive possibility for washing that specifies which one of the washing programs and/or which of a number of aids are useable to wash the item, or as a negative possibility for washing that specifies that the dishwasher is unsuitable for washing the item. An output unit outputs a recommendation to a user based on the possibility being determined for washing.
CONTROL OF CLEANING MACHINE CYCLES USING MACHINE VISION
Image classification is used to dynamically control one or more wash parameters in an automated cleaning machine. An imaging device installed in the wash chamber of the cleaning machine captures one or more image(s) of articles to be cleaned at various times throughout a cleaning process. A computing device analyzes the captured image(s) to classify the images as to an article type and a rack volume. Based on the article type classification and the rack volume, the computing device dynamically controls one or more parameters of the cleaning process to achieve a satisfactory cleaning and/or sanitizing result.
Monitoring of loading and/or unloading of dishwasher machines
Among other things, a method is disclosed which comprises the following: acquiring at least one set of acceleration data indicative of a progression of measured acceleration values; determining at least one set of evaluation data at least partially based on the acquired acceleration data, wherein determining the evaluation data comprises determining whether one or more characteristic actions have been performed by a user, and if so, performing the following: storing an action data representing the one or more actions that is included in the determined evaluation data or is at least a part of the determined evaluation data; and outputting or causing the output of the determined evaluation data. A device for executing and/or controlling this method, a system with one or more devices for executing and/or controlling this method and a computer program for executing and/or controlling this method by a processor are further disclosed.
DISHWASHER WITH OBJECT RECOGNITION
A dishwasher comprises an image sensor, first and second drawers, first and second actuators configured to respectively extend or retract the first and second drawers, and a computer system. The computer system is configured to receive images from the image sensor, determine whether an object is within a threshold distance, and in response to determining that an object is moved to within the threshold distance, use a washwear recognition system to determine whether the object comprises an washwear item. A determined washwear type and a washwear dimension are used to identify an unoccupied location in of a size and configured suitable to receive the washwear item. In response to identifying an unoccupied location of a size and configured suitable to receive the washwear item, an actuator among the first actuator and the second actuator is caused to extend a corresponding drawer to thereby receive the item of dishware.
CUSTOMIZING CLEANING CYCLES
A method includes receiving, at an artificial intelligence (AI) accelerator of a computing system, image data of one or more objects from an image sensor and performing an AI operation on the image data at the AI accelerator of the computing system using an AI model. The method further includes determining a custom cleaning cycle at the AI accelerator in response to performing the AI operation.
Targeted dish cleaner
A system and method for cleaning a dish, comprising: illuminating said dish with a light source; capturing an image of said dish with a camera; inspecting said image to determine if said dish is clean; and estimating locations of dirty regions on said dish; spraying a fluid with a first nozzle on said dish with a predetermined spray distribution, wherein said first nozzle can reorient or relocate to spray said fluid on any region of said dish visible in said image; and spraying a fluid with a second nozzle on said dish with a spray distribution having a smaller coverage than that of said first nozzle, wherein said second nozzle is relocated or reoriented such that the fluid reaches said dirty regions at said locations on said dish; whereby dirty regions of said dish are targeted for a fast and efficient cleaning of said dish.
Dish washing machine and method of controlling the same
A dish washing machine includes a door, a main body in which a washing tub for opening and closing the front opening of the door is provided, and a basket configured to be installed in the washing tub to be able to move in and out of the washing tub and to contain dishes. A sensing unit is configured to sense a basket identifier and a door identifier. A driving unit is configured to drive a vane. A controller is configured to control the driving unit such that cleaning is performed for each dish storage area of the basket based on the sensed result of a sensing unit. The controller determines the area where the dishes are laid, and controls the driving unit to clean the dish storage area where the dishes are laid.
Verification of cleaning processes with electronically readable coded coupon
A soil-based coupon having an electronically readable verification code printed thereon is used for verification of soil removal by a cleaning process. The coupon includes a soil overlay covering the verification code. The verification code is at least partially revealed by removal of all or part of the soil overlay during the cleaning process. If the data encoded in the verification code can be correctly decoded after completion of the cleaning process, the cleaning process can be verified. The soil overlay can be designed to match the application. The coupons may be used in a cleaning process verification procedure in which one or more computing devices analyze images of the verification codes to determine whether or not cleaning processes can be verified.
Spot detection assembly for a dishwasher appliance
A dishwasher appliance includes a cabinet having a wash chamber for receipt of articles for cleaning, a rack assembly slidably received into the wash chamber and configured for the receipt of the articles, and a fluid dispensing assembly for dispensing a fluid onto the articles in the rack assembly during operation of the dishwasher appliance. Further, the dishwasher appliance includes a spot detection assembly. The spot detection assembly includes a transparent component and an imaging device arranged adjacent to the transparent component. As such, the imaging device is configured to detect one or more fluid spots on the transparent component, which is indicative of fluid spots being present on the articles.
