Autoclavable tactile keypad for video endoscopes
A keypad includes a support, a snap disk on a first side of the support transformable from a released state to a loaded state, a cover forming a seal over the first side, a pocket in the cover, a magnet and a plunger disposed in the pocket, the plunger adapted to engage and transform the snap disk to the loaded state, a magnetic field sensor on a second side of the support, the second side opposite the first side and logic circuitry adapted to obtain a value of a strength of a magnetic field from the sensor, compare the value against a predetermined threshold value that corresponds at least approximately to the strength of a magnetic field, and when the plunger has transformed the snap disk to the loaded state and the value reaches or exceeds the threshold value, output a signal indicating that a key press occurred.
Registration of a surgical image acquisition device using contour signatures
Registration of a surgical image acquisition device (e.g. an endoscope) using preoperative and live contour signatures of an anatomical object is described. A control unit includes a processor configured to compare the real-time contour signature to the database of preoperative contour signatures of the anatomical object to generate a group of potential contour signature matches for selection of a final contour match. Registration of an image acquisition device to the surgical site is realized based upon an orientation corresponding to the selected final contour signature match.
METHOD, APPARATUS AND SYSTEM FOR CONTROLLING AN IMAGE CAPTURE DEVICE DURING SURGERY
A system for controlling a medical image capture device during surgery, the system including: circuitry configured to receive a first image of the surgical scene, captured by the medical image capture device from a first viewpoint, and additional information of the scene; determine, for the medical image capture device, in accordance with the additional information and previous viewpoint information of surgical scenes, one or more candidate viewpoints from which to obtain an image of the surgical scene; provide, in accordance with the first image of the surgical scene, for each of the one or more candidate viewpoints, a simulated image of the surgical scene from the candidate viewpoint; control the medical image capture device to obtain an image of the surgical scene from the candidate viewpoint corresponding to a selection of one of the one or more simulated images of the surgical scene.
Digital-based medical devices
A skin measuring microscope includes a housing, an electronic imager disposed along an imaging axis, and an illumination system. The illumination system includes a plurality of LEDs disposed in a ring-like configuration adjacent a distal end of the housing.
MULTIFUNCTIONAL VISUALIZATION INSTRUMENT WITH ORIENTATION CONTROL
A multifunctional laryngoscope is provided that includes a handle comprising a proximal end and a distal end and a display screen on the handle. The laryngoscope includes a laryngoscope camera at the distal end of the handle and an introducer comprising an orientation sensor at a distal end of the introducer. The laryngoscope includes a processor programmed to execute instructions for receiving from a steering input a steering command in a first reference frame, and mapping the steering command to a second reference frame oriented to the distal end of the introducer based on an orientation signal from the orientation sensor.
MEDICAL IMAGING APPARATUS AND OPERATION METHOD FOR MEDICAL IMAGING APPARATUS
At the time of automatic selection of a key image from among a large number of medical examination images, a medical imaging apparatus compares information extracted based on a sample image created in advance with information of an examination image, and performs common category determination and similarity degree determination. As a result of the comparison, the examination image selected to be close to the sample image is set as the key image, and storage processing is performed. The stored key image can be used for medical reports.
IMAGE RECORDING UNIT
A method implemented by an image recording unit having a normal state and an error state of operation. The method includes: receiving metadata specifying information about a patient and/or an endoscopic procedure; receiving images generated by an image sensor of an endoscope, the images corresponding to optical images received by the image sensor and comprising single images and/or a stream of images; controlling a display to show the images; in response to a first user input in the normal state, storing the images and the metadata in a memory of the image recording unit, and in the error state, overwriting with new data at least some of the metadata.
Endoscope observation assistance apparatus and endoscope observation assistance method
An endoscope observation assistance apparatus includes an image information acquiring part to acquire and display a captured image of a luminal organ captured by the endoscope device on a display, a lesion information acquisition part to detect a predetermined lesion based on the captured image and to acquire lesion information regarding the lesion, a lesion disappearance determination part to track the lesion based on the captured image and the lesion information and to determine whether or not the lesion has disappeared from the captured image, and a notification part to notify a determination result when the lesion disappearance determination part determines that the lesion has disappeared from the captured image. Alternatively, the notification part may notify a lesion detection when a short time period passes after the lesion detection by the lesion information acquisition part.
IMAGE CAPTURING DEVICE AND IMAGE CAPTURING SYSTEM
An image capturing apparatus includes: a columnar main body having proximal and distal ends, and having a predetermined length therebetween so as to enable insertion of at least the distal end into an oral cavity; at least one light source provided on the proximal or distal end side of the main body, or to the main body, configured to emit light having a predetermined frequency band; a diffuser plate provided on the proximal or distal end side of the main body, or to the main body, configured to diffuse the emitted light toward the oral cavity; and a camera provided on the proximal or the distal end side of the main body, or to the main body, configured to capture an object image based on reflected light which has been diffused by the diffuser plate and reflected from the oral cavity.
Endoscope with inertial measurement units and / or haptic input controls
An endoscope having an insertion tube with a distal optical module and a releasable handle. In a semi-robotic embodiment, the handle comprises haptic controllers and a computer configured for steering and/or adjusting physical properties of the insertion tube in response to one or more command inputs from the haptic controllers. The computer may also convert image data received from the optical module into two-dimensional images displayable on a monitor. The endoscope may have inertial measurement units (IMUs) for providing data to the computer for creating a digital three-dimensional image representation of an anatomy model and/or for facilitating handling properties of the endoscope.
