SURGICAL INSTRUMENT FOR MANIPULATING AND PASSING SUTURE
A suture passing instrument for manipulating and passing suture through a tissue is disclosed. 5 The instrument includes a handle, an elongate shaft extending from the handle, a hook movably disposed within the elongate shaft. The elongate shaft includes a distal portion having an open end. The hook is movable from a retracted configuration in which at least a portion the hook is situated within the elongate shaft, and a deployed configuration in which the hook extends distally from the open end. The hook is operatively coupled to an actuator of the handle via a 10 coupling member and the hook is moved from the retracted configuration to the deployed configuration be applying tension to the coupling member.
Meniscus suture device
The present invention refers to a reusable meniscus suture device that comprising a handle for handling the device; a single-part needle comprising an elongated solid body which extends from the handle and a free end opposite the handle endowed with a cutting tip; and at least a portion of the elongated body gradually tapers in thickness towards the cutting tip, forming a portion of greater thickness in the region near the handle, and a portion of lesser thickness in the region near the tip, and wherein the portion of lesser thickness is malleable and curvable; and wherein the tip of the distal end has a lumen for the passage of the suture thread.
DEVICES, SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR TREATING BENIGN PROSTATIC HYPERPLASIA AND OTHER CONDITIONS
Extra-urethral implants and methods of use are disclosed. Implants can treat disorders or diseases of the prostate by, for example, enlarging the lumen of the prostatic urethra.
Suturing device and methods of use thereof
A suturing device includes a hollow needle. The hollow needle has a length extending between a proximal end and a distal end and defining a lumen having an inner diameter. The suturing device further includes a length of surgical suture having a leading end and a trailing end and an outer diameter smaller than the inner diameter of the lumen. At least a portion of the surgical suture is located within the lumen of the hollow needle. A surgical kit including the suturing device and methods of using the suturing device of the present invention are also disclosed.
Steerable suture retriever
A positioning and retrieval device manipulated by carrying element coupled to an handle and driven by an actuator that allows for axial movement and rotational movement of a capturing portion on the carrying element.
Devices and methods facilitating sleeve gastrectomy and other procedures
A device for use in bariatric surgery includes a flexible hollow tube extending from a proximal end to a distal end and defines a channel therebetween. A series of openings is defined in a distal portion of the tube allowing for fixation of tissue using suction. A flexible member has an initial position disposed alongside the tube and is deployable to a subsequent position in which the flexible member engages a greater curvature of a stomach. The flexible member is configured to be deployable to automatically assume a shape of a greater curvature of a stomach. The flexible member includes a bulging region and a tapering region when deployed. The flexible member is releasably attached to the distal end of the tube.
Systems and methods for all-inside suture fixation for implant attachment and soft tissue repair
In one embodiment, the present invention is a system for repairing a meniscus including: a suture assembly including a first anchor, a second anchor, and a flexible suture connecting the first anchor and the second anchor, the flexible suture including a slide knot between the first anchor and the second anchor; and an inserter including a needle having a longitudinal extending bore and an open distal end, the bore being configured to receive the first anchor and the second anchor, a housing operatively connected to a proximal end of the needle, the housing having a lumen and a slot, the slot including a first portion, a second portion, a first shoulder and a second shoulder and a pusher configured to rotate and slide within the lumen of the housing and the longitudinal extending bore of the needle, the pusher having an extension extending through the slot and configured to be maneuverable through the first portion and second portion and engageable with the first shoulder and second shoulder.
Articulating suture hook
An articulating suture hook for passing or retrieving suture. The suture hook having a handle with a proximal end and distal end. A stiffening tube is fixed to the distal end of the handle extending distally from the handle. A flexible outer tube is fixed to the stiffening tube and extends distally therefrom. A cut portion of the flexible outer tube has a plurality of cuts positioned therealong. In a first configuration, the flexible outer tube extends parallel to or in alignment with the stiffening tube, but in a second configuration, the flexible outer tube is curved at the cut portion. The plurality of cuts may be arranged into two patterns. Each cut arranged in a first pattern is offset at an angle from each cut arranged in a second pattern. The pattern, shape, and size of the cuts determines the movement of the flexible outer tube to the second configuration.
Accessory for Implanting a Medical Device Configured to Plug an Anatomical Duct
The invention relates to an accessory for implanting a medical device in a human or animal body, said medical device comprising an occlusion collar (1) adapted to surround and to seal an anatomical duct of said human or animal body, a fluid reservoir (2) and a tube (3) connecting the reservoir to the occlusion collar, said accessory comprising:—a plug (100; 100) adapted to seal an end of the tube; and—a collar (200) adapted to surround the tube, the plug (100) and the collar (200) having respective connection portions (103, 104; 203, 204) adapted to engage so as to fix the collar (200) and the plug (100) together so as to hermetically seal said end of the tube (3).
Suture passer devices and methods
Suture passer devices and methods of using the devices having one or more protective interlocks preventing or limiting operation of the suture passer when deployment of the needle may damage the apparatus or harm the patient. For example, described herein are suture passer devices that include an interlock preventing deployment of the tissue penetrator (needle) when the jaws are not clamped onto a tissue. Also described herein are interlocks preventing retraction of a jaw axially until the needle is retracted.
