Surgical burr

A surgical burr includes prevention part, a shaft and a working part including at least one cutting or grinding surface for processing of a material selected from a bone, a cartilage, a calcified tissue, a tooth and a foreign object within a patient body. The prevention part is configured to have a first position and a second position. In the first position, it at least partially prevents the cutting or grinding surface from processing the material, when a force applied to the prevention part is less than a predetermined amount of force. In the second position, it allows the cutting or grinding surface to process the material, when the force applied to the prevention part is equal or higher than the predetermined amount of force.

Arthrodesis surgical apparatus and method

Arthrodesis surgical methods and apparatus. After a guide pin is inserted into the joint to be fused, a core saw creates a cored-out cavity in the joint to be fixated. An autograft bone core is harvested with a core saw and is inserted into the cored-out cavity. The joint is then immobilized for the healing process.

Automatically adjusted medical saw system

An automatically adjusted medical saw system has a mechanism that measures bone thickness via ultrasound-based sensors to ensure that only the bone tissue is cut during the cutting process and the soft tissue is not damaged during this cutting process. The automatically adjusted medical saw system includes a saw box, a saw blade, a movable platform, a saw motor, an ultrasonic receiver or a transmitter, a screw, a step motor, a hydrogel strip, a movement axis rail, a tightening apparatus, a motor control circuit, a control circuit for the ultrasonic receiver or the transmitter, a central control unit, and rails to guide the movable platform.

Surgical robotic systems including a sterile connector and related methods

Sterile connectors for robotic or robot-assisted surgery and related systems and methods can be used to establish a sterile barrier between a non-sterile robot arm and a surgical site. More particularly, a sterile connector can include a first component connector to couple to a distal end of a robot arm, a second component connector to couple to an end effector, and a sterile drape extending from the sterile connector. The sterile drape can drape the robot arm and can maintain a sterile barrier around the robot arm throughout the course of a surgical procedure. In this manner, an end effector can be swapped out during the procedure without the need to re-drape or re-establish the sterile surgical field. In some embodiments, the sterile connector can facilitate the passage of electrical signals and/or light between the sterile connector and at least one of the robot arm and end effector.

SURGICAL BURR

A method includes processing a first material using a working part having a working device and a prevention device, and using the prevention device to simultaneously prevent damage to a second material adjacent the first material. A method of processing a first material includes arranging a prevention device in a first position to prevent a working part having a working device and the prevention device from processing first and second materials, and arranging the prevention device in a second position to allow the working device to process the first material while the prevention device simultaneously prevents damage to a second material adjacent the first material.

Apparatus with saw-toothed blade for cutting tissue

A tissue splitting device for splitting a harvested soft tissue to provide a layer of tissue having a uniform thickness and methods for tissue transplantation using uniform layers of tissue.

SURGICAL SAW BLADE

A surgical saw blade is disclosed for improved resection and cutting of tissue. The surgical saw blade may include a front side, an opposite back side, a top side, an opposite bottom side, a right side, and an opposite left side. The surgical saw blade may further include a cutting tooth extending from the back side and having a cutting edge oriented toward one of the right side and the left side, the cutting tooth associated with an aperture through the saw blade between the front and back sides. The back side may be a single direction cutting side and the front, top, bottom, right, and left sides may be non-cutting sides. The surgical saw blade may further include a saw connection feature near the bottom side.

ELASTOGRAPHY FOR LIGAMENT CHARACTERIZATION
20220039864 · 2022-02-10 ·

Methods and system for characterizing ligament properties using elastography are disclosed. An ultrasound system capable of performing shear wave elasticity imaging and/or supersonic shear imaging may retrieve one or more images from a proposed surgical site. The one or more images may be provided to a surgical planning system that identifies one or more properties of ligaments proximate to the surgical site. Musculoskeletal simulations may be performed using the identified properties to preoperatively identify a surgical plan. Preoperative identification of a surgical plan may enable a surgeon to select from more fine-tuning options for a joint replacement than conventional systems.

APPARATUS WITH SAW-TOOTHED BLADE FOR CUTTING TISSUE

A tissue splitting device for splitting a harvested soft tissue to provide a layer of tissue having a uniform thickness and methods for tissue transplantation using uniform layers of tissue.

SURGICAL TOOL POSITION TRACKING AND SCORING SYSTEM
20210330400 · 2021-10-28 ·

A system and method for tracking position and orientation of a surgical tool during a surgical procedure and providing feedback to a user are described. For example the system includes a surgical tool configured to perform at least a portion of the surgical procedure, a tracking system configured to monitor and record position information related to the surgical tool, a processing system, and a display. The processing system can be configured to receive the position information, determine optimal position information for the surgical tool during the surgical procedure, compare the received position information against the optimal position information to determine a conformance level for the user, and generate a user performance record. The display can be configured to receive and display the user performance record.
