Fixation assembly with a flexible elongated member for securing parts of a sternum
A fixation assembly for securing parts of a sternum is provided. The assembly comprises a flexible elongated member and an attachment member. The flexible elongated member includes a locking structure configured to secure the flexible elongated member in a loop around the sternum parts. The attachment member has at least one opening for receiving a bone fastener and is coupled to the flexible elongated member.
FENESTRATED BONE ANCHOR
Disclosed is a fenestrated bone anchor suitable for being anchored in live bone tissue of a human or animal patient. The bone anchor comprises a shaft with a proximal end and a distal end and a circumferential surface extending from the proximal end to the distal end. The shaft further comprises a longitudinal cavity extending from the proximal end towards the distal end and a plurality of lateral channels extending through a wall of the shaft from the axial cavity to the circumferential surface. The lateral channel has a pear-shaped cross section and/or the thickness of the wall increases gradually in selected ones of directions towards the lateral channels. The fenestrated bone anchor is e.g. a component of a surgical system comprising an interbody fusion device of the stand-alone type.
Tibial cutting guide assemblies and associated instrumentation for performing surgical methods
This disclosure is directed to tibial cutting guide assemblies for preparing a tibia for receiving an arthroplasty implant. Exemplary tibial cutting guide assemblies may include a tibial cutting block for making precise cuts in the tibia, and a slope setting pin for establishing a patient specific tibial slope. The tibial cutting guide assemblies allow for level resection while providing surgical control over internal/external rotation and varus/valgus alignment.
Devices, systems and methods for treating the skin
According to some embodiments, a method of treating a skin surface of a subject comprises heating a skin surface, abrading native skin tissue of a subject using a microdermabrasion device, wherein using the microdermabrasion device comprises moving the microdermabrasion device relative to the skin surface while simultaneously delivering at least one treatment fluid to the skin surface being treated and cooling the abraded skin surface.

Method and apparatus for minimally invasive insertion of intervertebral implants
A dilation introducer for orthopedic surgery is provided for minimally invasive access for insertion of an intervertebral implant. The dilation introducer may be used to provide an access position through Kambin's triangle from a posterolateral approach. A first dilator tube with a first longitudinal axis is provided. A second dilator tube may be introduced over the first, advanced along a second longitudinal axis parallel to but offset from the first. A third dilator tube may be introduced over the second, advanced along a third longitudinal axis parallel to but offset from both the first and the second. An access cannula may be introduced over the third dilator tube. With the first, second, and third dilator tubes removed, surgical instruments may pass through the access cannula to operate on an intervertebral disc and/or insert an intervertebral implant.
Systems and methods for sizing and introduction of soft-tissue allografts
The present disclosure includes systems, methods, kits, and individual tools (e.g., trial sizers and delivery devices) for medical procedures involving a soft-tissue allograft for the correction of skeletal impairments (e.g., misalignments, arthritis, etc.).
Implant surfaces that enhance osteoinduction
Bone-contacting surfaces and free surfaces of orthopedic implants. The implants are additively manufactured, followed by mechanical, chemical, or mechanical and chemical erosion. At least some of the surfaces of the implants include an osteoinducting roughness that has micro-scale structures and nano-scale structures that facilitate and enhance osteoinduction and osteogenesis, as well as enhanced alkaline phosphatase, osterix, and osteocalcin expression levels along the pathway of mesenchymal stem cell differentiation to osteoblasts.

Driver for a bone screw
In accordance to one aspect of the present disclosure, a driver for a bone screw is provided that includes an inner shaft and a distal drive head of the inner shaft. The drive head is configured to fit in a drive recess of a bone screw to form a mating connection therewith. The driver further includes at least one outer, resilient locking member shiftable along the inner shaft from a proximal, unlocked position to a distal, locked position. The resilient locking member has a locking portion that contacts and is urged outwardly by a proximal ramp surface of the drive head as the locking member shifts distally from the unlocked position to the locked position to secure the bone screw onto the drive head.
