POLYAXIAL BONE ANCHORING DEVICE

A polyaxial bone anchoring device includes a receiving part with a rod receiving portion defining a recess for receiving a rod, and a head receiving portion with a wall that defines an accommodation space for accommodating a head of an anchoring element, and a locking member positionable at least partially around the head receiving portion and movable from a first position where the head can pivot in the accommodation space to a second position where an angular position of the head is locked. The wall of the head receiving portion further defines at least one cavity in communication with the accommodation space that reduces a radial thickness of at least part of the wall located between the accommodation space and the locking member, and at least part of the cavity is separated radially from the accommodation space by a portion of the wall.

External fixation strut

Embodiments of the invention include an external fixation system that includes at least one external fixation strut that is both acutely adjustable and precisely adjustable and related methods of adjustment. Acute adjustment may be accomplished using one or more mobile jaws that may be engaged with or disengage from a threaded rod of each external fixation strut. Precise adjustment of each external fixation strut may be accomplished after releasing a lock biased toward a locked position. When each external fixation struts lock is released, a portion of each of the precise adjustment mechanism of each external fixation strut may be activated to increase and decrease the length of each of the at least one external fixation struts.

External fixation device

An external fixation system for the correction of long bone deformities includes an elongate beam element having an engagement feature along a longitudinal edge of the elongate beam element, a connector element secured to the elongate beam and structurally configured to support a first bone anchor extending from the external fixation system, and a movable carriage engaged with the engagement feature along the longitudinal edge of the elongate beam element and selectively movable along the engagement feature of the elongate beam element. The movable carriage is selectively lockable into a position along the elongate beam element. The movable carriage is structurally configured to support a second bone anchor extending from the external fixation system.
