DEVICES, SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MEASURING TISSUE TIGHTNESS AND PERFORMING SUBDERMAL COAGULATION TO INCREASE TISSUE TIGHTNESS
The present disclosure relates to devices, systems and methods for subdermal tissue tightening through soft tissue coagulation and for use in cosmetic surgery applications. The devices, systems and methods of the present disclosure may be used for a minimally invasive application of plasma energy to subcutaneous tissue for the purpose of tightening lax tissue. The present disclosure further provides tissue tightness measurement devices, systems and methods, which are used to determine the tightness of tissue. The measurements obtained by the tissue tightness measurement devices and/or systems are used to determine when a desired tissue tightness has been achieved during a tissue tightening procedure.
APPARATUS FOR GENERATING A PLASMA AND METHOD FOR PERFORMING A PLASMA TREATMENT
An apparatus for generating a plasma above a treatment object. The apparatus includes a plasma-generating element such that during operation the plasma is generated by the plasma-generating element. The apparatus further includes a sealing element attached to the plasma-generating element. The sealing element has a cavity and is configured to form a closed volume with a part of the treatment object, so that at least a part of the cavity is part of the closed volume and, during operation of the apparatus, the plasma is generated in the closed volume. The sealing element includes a reception region that is configured so that a part of the treatment object can be inserted into the reception region. A method is also disclosed for performing a plasma treatment to a treatment object using the apparatus.
GAS-ENHANCED ENERGY-BASED SURGICAL INSTRUMENT, SYSTEM, AND METHOD FOR MINIMALLY-INVASIVE SURGICAL PROCEDURES
A surgical instrument includes a housing, an elongated shaft assembly extending from the housing, and an end effector extending from the elongated shaft assembly. An inner shaft of the assembly defines proximal and distal portions and a longitudinal lumen. The proximal portion inhibits passage of gas while the distal portion permits passage of gas. An intermediate collar is disposed about the inner shaft between the proximal and distal portions. An outer sleeve of the assembly is disposed about the inner shaft and the intermediate collar to define a proximal area therebetween proximally of the intermediate collar and a distal annular area therebetween distally of the intermediate collar. The outer sleeve includes a proximal portion surrounding the proximal annular area and a distal portion surrounding the distal annular area. The proximal portion permits passage of gas while the distal portion inhibits passage of gas.
Laser induced collagen crosslinking in tissue
The presently disclosed subject matter provides techniques for inducing collagen cross-linking in human tissue, such as cartilage, by inducing ionization of the water contained in the tissue to produce free radicals that induce chemical cross-linking in the human tissue. In an embodiment, a femtosecond laser operates at sufficiently low laser pulse energy to avoid optical breakdown of the tissue being treated. In an embodiment, the femtosecond laser operates in the infrared frequency range.
Medical Device Insertion Apparatus, System and Method
An insertion device is disclosed. The insertion device includes a base portion, a top portion slidably connected to the base portion, an introduction needle, a catheter in slidable relation to the introduction needle, and a substantially cylindrical flash chamber, the flash chamber having an inlet in fluid communication with the introduction needle. The flash chamber is connected to the base portion, the top portion slidably engages with the flash chamber, and the catheter and the top portion slidably advance with respect to the introduction needle and the base portion.
SYSTEMS, METHODS, AND DEVICES FOR GENERATING PREDOMINANTLY RADIALLY EXPANDED PLASMA FLOW
Systems, devices, and methods generating a plasma flow are disclosed. A method may include applying energy that alternates between being at a base level for a first duration and at a pulse level for a second duration according to a controlled pattern, generating a plasma flow having a directional axis, and discharging the plasma flow alternating between a base configuration and a pulse configuration according to the controlled pattern. The plasma flow in the base configuration may have (1) a first temperature at the outlet and (2) a first flow front that advances along the directional axis. The plasma flow in the pulse configuration may have (1) a second temperature at the outlet that is greater than the first temperature and (2) a second flow front that advances along the directional axis at a speed greater than the first flow front.
TOOTH AND BONE RESTORATION VIA PLASMA DEPOSITION
A natural and sustainable material is derived from the nut of the tagua palm tree that may be fashioned into devices for humans and animals. A pulverized and reconstituted material is disclosed herein that is also treated with a low temperature atmospheric plasma treatment. In an embodiment, a biocompatible carrier gas is ionized to form a biocompatible atmospheric plasma stream. Material, such as nano-scale powdered hydroxyapatite, is introduced into the plasma stream, which is then applied to the natural nut material.
Plasma Probe
A concept for reliable and simple connection of a heat-resistant end piece (17) to a hose body (18) is described, and particularly a multiple lumen hose body (18). The connection technique is simple and reliable and leads to high quality probes having a long lifetime.
Devices, systems and methods for enhancing physiological effectiveness of medical cold plasma discharges
An electrosurgical apparatus for generating a plasma discharge beam is provided. In one aspect, the electrosurgical apparatus includes a first fluid flow housing, a second fluid flow housing, and an electrode. A first gas is provided to the distal end of the first fluid flow housing, where the electrode is energized to ionize the first gas and generate a plasma discharge beam. A second gas is provided to the distal end of the second fluid flow housing, where the distal end of the second fluid flow housing injects the second gas into the plasma discharge beam. In another aspect, the electrosurgical apparatus includes a single fluid flow housing having an external electrode and an internal electrode. In another aspect, the electrosurgical apparatus includes a transformer assembly having a plurality of serially-connected transformers.
Plasma Probe And Method For Assembly Of Its Electrode
A plasma probe comprises a hose with a conductor arranged therein that supports an electrode at least at its distal end. The electrode is either directly secured on the conductor or the conductor is provided with a plastic sheathing at least at its distal end by means of which the electrode is held. The electrode can be inserted between the conductor and the plastic sheathing and can be clamped in this manner. After first use the plastic sheathing can be fused to the electrode. The conductor is placed with clearance inside a channel or hollow space of electrode, however, whereby also in case of spot-like contact between the conductor and the electrode due to the gap provided between them apart therefrom the heat transmission from the electrode on the conductor is impeded and thereby the heat introduction in the plasma probe is limited.
