Method for supporting a user, computer program product, data medium and imaging system
A method for supporting a user, a corresponding computer program product, a corresponding data medium, and a corresponding imaging system are provided. According to the method, a three-dimensional (3D) data set depicting a target object is provided, and at least one two-dimensional (2D) image of the target object is automatically acquired. The 2D image and the 3D data set are automatically registered with each other by a 2D/3D registration. A spatial direction in which the 2D/3D registration exhibits greatest uncertainty is automatically specified. A signal for aligning an instrument that is provided for the purpose of examining the target object is then automatically generated and output as a function of the specified spatial direction in order to support the user.
BIOPSY DEVICE AND METHOD FOR TISSUE SAMPLING IN MAMMALS
A microbiopsy device for extracting a tissue sample, the microbiopsy device comprising a main body extending between a distal end and a proximal end and adapted to have or assume a shape of substantially uniform transverse width along the length of the main body, wherein the distal end is arranged to enter tissue; the proximal end comprises a mounting interface adapted for connection with an elongated member, or is integrally formed with a solid elongated member; the transverse width of the main body is smaller than 1 mm; and the main body comprises a recess extending in a longitudinal direction of the main body and defining a cavity arranged to capture tissue therein.
Endoscopic Ultrasound-Guided Biliary Access System
The present disclosure provides an access system having a maneuverable catheter assembly configured for providing access to and navigating a desired vessel for subsequent treatment thereof. The access system includes an adjustable delivery handle assembly and an access catheter subassembly having a maneuverable access catheter configured to be delivered to desired site (e.g., within duodenum) to assist in treatment of a condition (e.g., drainage of a bile ducts via Endoscopic Ultrasound Guided Biliary Drainage (EUS-BD) techniques). The access catheter includes at least a distal section having an adjustable portion along a length thereof configured to transition to a pre-defined arcuate shape to provide directional control over the distal end of the catheter as it is navigated through a vessel (e.g., bile duct). The handle assembly includes additional elements configured to allow a clinician to maneuver and manipulate the distal end of the access catheter.
Endoscopic Ultrasound Fine Needle Aspiration Device
A handle for a medical device includes a proximal segment defining a proximal lumen extending therethrough and sized and shaped to receive an endoscopic medical device therein. A medial segment is received within a distal portion of the proximal segment and has an outer diameter smaller than an inner diameter thereof. A medial lumen extends through the proximal segment and is open to the proximal lumen. A distal segment is received within a distal portion of the medial segment and defines a distal lumen extending therethrough open to the medial lumen. The distal segment has an outer diameter smaller than an inner diameter of the medial segment. The medial segment includes a first movement limiting mechanism limiting movement of an endoscopic medical device inserted therethrough along an axis of the distal lumen and a second movement limiting mechanism limiting advancement of an endoscope attached to the distal body portion.
BIOPSY NEEDLE
A biopsy needle includes: a tubular outer needle including a first needle tip at one end in a longitudinal direction of the outer needle; and an inner needle having a columnar shape and configured to be inserted into the outer needle and movable along the longitudinal direction. The inner needle includes: a second needle tip at a distal end of the inner needle; an inclined surface that is inclined toward the second needle tip; and concave portions provided on first and second side surfaces of the inner needle, the first side surface facing a first direction perpendicular to a cross section parallel to the longitudinal direction, the second side surface facing a second direction opposite to the first direction, a part of the inclined surface being included in an area obtained by projecting the concave portions in a direction parallel to a transverse direction of the inner needle.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MEDICAL PROCEDURES USING OPTICAL COHERENCE TOMOGRAPHY SENSING
A system for performing a minimally invasive procedure comprises a flexible catheter with a lumen extending therethrough. The system also comprises an elongate instrument sized for passage through the lumen and an optical coherence tomographic sensor coupled to the elongate instrument. The system also comprises a control system that includes one or more processors. The control system is configured to receive sensor data from the optical coherence tomographic sensor, profile a tissue based on the received sensor data, generate an output signal based on the profiled tissue, and based on receipt of the output signal, generate a command to indicate or affect movement of the elongate instrument.
LUNG BIOPSY DEVICES, SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR LOCATING AND BIOPSYING AN OBJECT
According to embodiments, a substantially coaxial arrangement of a camera, a light source, and an ultrasonic sensor can be positioned in an housing of a system that can be deployed from the tool port of a standard bronchoscope. Illumination from the light source facilitates positioning of the system by an operator using information from the camera. The ultrasonic system can determine when an object to be biopsied is adjacent to a biopsy needle.
STEERABLE ULTRASOUND ATTACHMENT FOR ENDOSCOPE
An endoscope add-on assembly adapted to be attached to a target endoscope. The assembly includes an ultrasound imaging sub-assembly, including a communications cable connected to an ultrasound imaging head and an imaging head movement sub-assembly, including a conduit, holding a tension member that is attached to the ultrasound imaging head. Further included are connective elements, adapted to permit the endoscope add-on assembly to be attached to the target endoscope. Finally, the imaging head movement sub-assembly is detachable from the ultrasound imaging sub-assembly, thereby permitting the imaging head movement subassembly to be processed separately from the ultrasound imaging sub-assembly, after use.
