Soft tissue balancing in articular surgery
Systems and methods may be used to perform robot-aided surgery. A system may include a display device and a computing device including a memory device with instructions. The instructions can cause the system to access surgical data, calculate medial and lateral gap data, calculate a recommended component set, and generate a graphical user interface. Accessing surgical data can include accessing soft tissue data indicative of at least tension in soft tissues surrounding a surgical location. The graphical user interface can include an interactive trapezoidal graphic overlaid onto a graphical representation of a distal femur and a proximal tibia. The interactive trapezoidal graphic can include a graphical representation of a medial total gap, a lateral total gap, and a recommended spacer size. The interactive trapezoidal graphic can update in response to adjustments in implant parameters to assist in surgical planning.
Distraction frame for effecting hip distraction
A distraction frame for use with a surgical table, wherein the surgical table includes a base for positioning on a floor, the distraction frame including a table mount for fixation to the base of the surgical table; at least one horizontal strut mounted to the table mount; at least one vertical strut mounted to the at least one horizontal strut; and at least one distraction mechanism mounted to the at least one vertical strut, wherein the at least one distraction mechanism may be connected to a limb of a patient for applying a distraction force to the limb of the patient; wherein the table mount may transfer to the floor a force moment imposed on the table mount when the at least one distraction mechanism applies a distraction force to a limb of a patient.
Arthroplasty balance and gap gauge and cutting guidance
A gap gauge is disclosed for facilitating an arthroplasty procedure on a first bone and a second bone of a patient. The gap gauge may include a first plate positionable in contact with the first bone, a second plate positionable in contact with the second bone. The second plate may be displaced from the first plate by a displacement. The gap gauge may further include a balance indicator configured to indicate a balance status between the first plate and the second plate and a pin guide. The pin guide is configured to couple to one of the first plate and second plate and includes a pin hole that is configured to guide a pin for insertion into the second bone. The pin can be used to couple a cutting guide to the second bone to resect the second bone to adjust the balance status.
MODULAR DISTRACTOR APPARATUS, SYSTEM, AND METHOD
The present disclosure provides an apparatus, system, and method for positioning, holding, and/or distracting the bones and associated ligaments and tissue of the knee during surgery. In one aspect of the present disclosure, a modular distractor system may provide enhanced structurally stability and support of a patient's limb, which may provide stability, resulting in a better outcome for the patient. In another aspect of the present disclosure, modular distractor components are described, which provide for interchangeability and a tailored approach that accommodates variable patient limb size and specific surgical application.
Insert sensing system with medial-lateral shims and method therefor
An orthopedic system to monitor a parameter related to the muscular-skeletal system is disclosed. The orthopedic system includes electronic circuitry, at least one sensor, and a computer to receive measurement data in real-time. The orthopedic system comprises a first plurality of shims of a first type, a second plurality of a second type, a measurement module, and the computer. The measurement module houses the electronic circuitry and at least one sensor. The measurement module is adapted to be used with the first plurality of shims and the second plurality of shims. The measurement module has a medial surface that differs from a lateral surface by shape, size, or contour.
The gap gauge may further include a separator connected to the first plate and the second plate, a separation indicator coupled to the separator and configured to indicate the displacement, and a balance indicator connected to at least one of the first plate and the second plate. The balance indicator may indicate a balance status between the first plate and the second plate. The separator can be actuated to adjust the displacement.
Orthopedic surgical instrument for knee surgery
An orthopedic surgical instrument for use in knee surgeries includes an elongated body, a pair of output shafts, and a user control. A first output shaft extends out from a first side of the body along a first output axis substantially perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the elongated body. A second output shaft also extends out from the first side of the elongated body along a second output axis substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the elongated body. The user control is coupled to the elongated body near a first end and the first and second output shafts are situated near the second end of the elongated body. Each of the first output shaft and the second output shaft are configured to turn independent of one another in response to operation of the user control. Various joint distractors for use with the orthopaedic surgical instrument are also disclosed.
Multifunctional spacer for knee surgery to achieve balanced resection
A multifunctional spacer for knee surgery is described comprising a main body configured for use with a single femoral condyle and having an anterior portion of a first height and a posterior portion of a second height, wherein the second height is greater than, equal to or less than the first height. In addition, the anterior portion and/or the posterior portion is provided with an attachment mechanism for selective attachment of a height adjuster.
