The end effector includes a pair of jaws having a tissue contacting surface disposed substantially transverse to the longitudinal axis of the elongated portion. The end effector is disposed adjacent a distal end of the elongated portion, and at least one of the jaw members is movable with respect to the other between an open position and an approximated position for engaging body tissue therebetween. The clamp has a clamping surface extending substantially transversely from an elongated member and has a height exceeding a height of the elongated member to extend adjacent a side surface of the jaw containing the plurality of fasteners. The clamp is movable from a proximal position to a distal position for engaging body tissue.

An applicator instrument for dispensing surgical fasteners includes a housing, and an elongated shaft extending from the housing. The elongated shaft has a proximal end secured to the housing, a distal end spaced from the proximal end, and a first axis extending between the proximal and distal ends of the elongated shaft. Surgical fasteners are disposed in the elongated shaft. The surgical fasteners are stacked at an angle relative to the first axis of the elongated shaft. A distal end cap having a surgical fastener dispensing window is secured to the distal end of the elongated shaft. The applicator instrument has a firing system disposed in the housing, and an actuator coupled with the firing system for activating the firing system to dispense the surgical fasteners through the surgical fastener dispensing window.
SINGLE PORT INSTRUMENTS
Surgical tools that can be used in single port laparoscopic procedures can include a low-profile handle assembly to minimize tool interference adjacent the incision site. For example, a handle assembly for a surgical instrument can have a generally in-line configuration extending linearly along a central longitudinal axis of an elongate shaft of the instrument. A linkage mechanism including a trigger, an actuation link, and an actuation shaft can be positioned within the in-line handle. The linkage mechanism can be pivoted between an open position in which end effectors of the instrument are open and a toggle position in which the end effectors are locked closed. A locking mechanism such as a ratchet mechanism can also be used to lock the end effectors. A surgical dissector can include gripping jaws having a curved profile or an angled elongate shaft to minimize tool interference and maximize visibility within a procedure site.
Electromechanical surgical stapler including trocar assembly release mechanism
An adapter assembly for connecting a surgical reload to an electromechanical handle assembly, includes a trocar assembly release mechanism configured to releasably secure the trocar assembly within an outer tube. The release mechanism includes a release button supported in the outer tube and movable between an extended condition and a depressed condition; a spring clip slidably supported in the outer tube and connected to the release button; and a pair of lock cam pins supported within the outer tube, wherein each lock cam pin is secured to a respective leg of the spring clip, and wherein each lock cam pin is selectively receivable within a respective opening of the pair of openings formed in the trocar housing. The spring clip includes a backspan connected to the release button; and a pair of legs extending from the backspan.
Surgical port feature
A surgical port feature may include a funnel portion, a tongue, a waist portion, and surgical instrument channels. The waist portion may be located between the funnel portion and the tongue. The surgical instrument channels may extend from the funnel portion through the waist portion. The surgical port feature may further include a second tongue, with the wait portion being located between the funnel portion, the tongue, and the second tongue.
SURGICAL INSTRUMENT WITH BENDED SHAFT
A surgical bone cutting device, including a handle configured to facilitate operation and control of said device by an operator, and an elongated hollow member extending from the handle, the hollow member having a proximal end and a distal end; wherein the hollow member includes an opening at the distal end thereof and a rotatable cutting element extending through the opening, and wherein the hollow member includes a first bend at the proximal end thereof, such that the part of the hollow member distal to the proximal bend is offset a central axis of the hand.
Instrument for surgery
Provided is an instrument for surgery and, more specifically, to an instrument for surgery which can be manually operated in order to be used for laparoscopic surgery or various types of surgery.
Applicator instruments having stacked surgical fasteners for off-axis surgical fastener delivery
Fixed Angle Instrument With Rounded Linkages
A fixed angle instrument includes an elongate guide extending from a proximal end to a distal end, the guide having a proximal portion extending along a longitudinal axis and a distal portion extending transverse to the longitudinal axis. The instrument further includes a shaft disposed within the guide extending through the proximal portion of the guide along the longitudinal axis. The instrument further includes an intermediate element coupled to the shaft, the intermediate element having at least one bulbous link. The instrument further includes a distal element coupled to a distal end of the intermediate element.
Laparoscopic grasper with force-limiting grasping mechanism
A surgical instrument is provided having an actuator mechanism with an integrated extension element. The surgical instrument comprises a handle assembly, an elongate shaft, and an end effector. The end effector comprises a jaw assembly having atraumatic pads to reduce force on grasped tissue. An actuator is movable within the elongate shaft to actuate jaws of the jaw assembly responsive to a movable handle of the handle assembly. The actuator can have an integrated extension element that allows the actuator to translate within the elongate shaft upon application of a relatively low force and translate and extend upon application of a relatively higher force to the actuator to limit the force applied by the jaw assembly. The actuator also utilizes forces stored with the integrated extension element to provide a dynamic amount of force used to grasp the tissue when the tissue volume decreases while in the jaws.
