TREATMENT DEVICE AND TREATMENT SYSTEM
A treatment device includes: a probe including a treatment portion that performs treatment to a treatment target portion by transmission of ultrasonic vibration; a first sheath having a first edge and enclosing a periphery of the probe; a second sheath having a second edge and enclosing a periphery of the first sheath; a suction path including a suction opening between the first edge and the second edge and provided between the first sheath and the second sheath; and a connection part communicating with the suction path and connected to a suction source.
Energy-based surgical instruments and systems configured to minimize thermal spread
A surgical instrument includes an end effector assembly including first and second grasping components each defining a tissue-contacting portion. One or both of the grasping components is movable relative to the other to a closed position wherein the tissue-contacting portions cooperate to define a grasping area therebetween. One or both of the grasping components is configured to apply energy from the tissue-contacting portion thereof to tissue disposed within the grasping area to treat tissue. The tissue-contacting portion of the first grasping component defines a first opening disposed within the grasping area and in communication with a first lumen defined at least partially through the first grasping component. The first lumen is adapted to connect to a source of vacuum to enable aspiration through the first opening.
Systems and Methods For Ball Probe Ultrasonic Foraminotomy
The present invention discloses a ball probe ultrasonic bone removal device that is designed to assist surgeons with foraminotomy procedures. The device comprises a shaft at a first end of the device and a spherical ball tip at a second end of the device. In between the shaft and the ball tip is a foot piece that connects to the shaft through an angle. On the foot piece, serrations or a course surface cover a portion of the circumference of the foot piece. In some embodiments, serrations or a course surface may also cover a portion of the circumference of the shaft. The spherical ball tip is smooth and designed to cause no damage to the sensitive nerves and tissue in the intervertebral foramina, but the surface with the serrations or the course protrusions are designed to remove bone and tissue under ultrasonic movement (e.g., vertical vibration, rotational oscillation).
ENERGY-BASED SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS AND SYSTEMS CONFIGURED TO MINIMIZE THERMAL SPREAD
A surgical instrument includes an end effector assembly including first and second grasping components each defining a tissue-contacting portion. One or both of the first or second grasping components is movable relative to the other between an open position and a closed position. In the closed position, the first and second tissue-contacting portions cooperate to define a grasping area therebetween. One or both of the first or second grasping components is configured to apply energy from the tissue-contacting portion thereof to tissue disposed within the grasping area to treat tissue. The tissue-contacting portion of the first grasping component defines a first opening therethrough. The first opening is disposed within the grasping area and in communication with a first lumen defined at least partially through the first grasping component. The first lumen is adapted to connect to a source of vacuum to enable aspiration through the first opening.
Surgical instruments
A surgical instrument is disclosed including a transducer configured to provide vibrations along a longitudinal axis, an end effector operably coupled to the transducer, and a stationary lower jaw extending parallel to the end effector. The end effector extends along the longitudinal axis. The end effector comprises a blade. The stationary lower jaw comprises a clamp face positioned distal to the blade. The end effector is movable relative to the stationary lower jaw to drive the blade distally towards the clamp face. The end effector comprises a hollow lumen. The end effector further comprises at least one member extended across a portion of the hollow lumen.
Flue for Ultrasonic Aspiration Surgical Horn
A flue for use with an ultrasonic surgical tip, comprising protrusions or bumps on its inner surface with improved protrusion pattern, density and location. The flue has enhanced cooling effect for the ultrasonic surgical tip.
INTERNAL SECONDARY CALCULUS FRAGMENTATION MECHANISM
The present disclosure includes a calculi fracture device having an acoustic transducer for transferring acoustic energy via a primary fragmentation probe to fracture a calculi mass into calculi fragments, an evacuation tube connecting the probe to a pressure source, and a secondary fragmentation device located in an evacuation pathway extending along the fragmentation probe and the evacuation tube to further break up the calculi fragments to inhibit clogging at a more proximal location in the evacuation pathway. A method of inhibiting clogging of a calculi fracture device can include receiving, from a primary fragmentation device, fragments of a calculi mass along a passage of a evacuation pathway of the calculi fracture device and further breaking up the calculi fragments along the passage of the evacuation pathway at a location that is more proximal to a primary fragmentation location.
Ultrasonic Tip With Protrusion Defining A Preaspiration Hole
An ultrasonic tip for use with a surgical handpiece to produce both longitudinal and torsional motion. The ultrasonic tip comprises a shaft having a longitudinal axis extending between proximal and distal ends having respective first and second diameters with the first diameter greater than the second diameter. The ultrasonic tip also comprises a cutting feature coupled to the distal end of the shaft. The shaft defines an aspiration lumen that extends along the longitudinal axis of the shaft. A protrusion on the shaft is positioned between the distal end and the proximal end of the shaft. A portion of the protrusion having a third diameter, and the third diameter is less than the first diameter and the third diameter is greater than the second diameter. An aperture is defined by the protrusion and in fluid communication with the aspiration lumen, and the protrusion reinforces an area surrounding the aperture.
Flue for ultrasonic aspiration surgical horn
A flue for use with an ultrasonic surgical tip, comprising protrusions or bumps on its inner surface with improved protrusion pattern, density and location. The flue has enhanced cooling effect for the ultrasonic surgical tip.
Fluid supply instrument, treatment instrument unit, and treatment system
A fluid supply instrument for a treatment instrument that is mounted on a grasping section of the treatment instrument capable of grasping a living tissue includes a port configured to receive a fluid, and a cover continuous to the port and configured to be covering a back surface on an opposite side of a grasping surface of the grasping section that is capable of grasping a living tissue. The cover forms a fluid channel continuous from the port in cooperation with the grasping section, and allows the fluid received from the port to flow out from between a cover edge adjacent to the grasping surface and an edge portion of the grasping surface.
