Catheter with a double balloon structure to generate and apply an ablative zone to tissue
Ablation catheters and systems include coaxial catheter shafts with an inner lumen for delivering an ablative agent and an outer lumen for circulation of a cooling element about the catheter. Induction heating is used to heat a chamber and vaporize a fluid within by wrapping a coil about a ferromagnetic chamber and providing an alternating current to the coil. A magnetic field is created in the area surrounding the chamber which induces electric current flow in the chamber, heating the chamber and vaporizing the fluid inside. Positioning elements help maintain the device in the proper position with respect to the target tissue and also prevent the passage of ablative agent to normal tissues.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR TREATING TISSUE WITH RADIOFREQUENCY ENERGY
A device for applying radiofrequency energy for sphincter treatment comprising a flexible outer tube, an expandable basket having a plurality of arms movable from a collapsed position to an expanded position, and a plurality of electrodes movable with respect to the arms from a retracted position to an extended position. An advancer is slidably disposed within the outer tube to move the plurality of electrodes to the extended position. An actuator moves the advancer from a first position to a second position to advance the plurality of electrodes. An aspiration tube extends within the outer tube. An assembly includes an aspiration disabler having a first position to enable aspiration from a distal portion of the aspiration tube to a proximal portion and a second position to disable aspiration.
APPARATUS AND COSMETIC METHOD FOR BODY ORIFICE REMODELING
A body orifice remodeling device includes a cylindrical handpiece having a defined length which is adapted to be inserted into the body orifice and an elongated monopolar electrode mounted outside on the circumference of the cylindrical handpiece and extending substantially along the length of the handpiece. A source of radio frequency (RF) energy in the handpiece is configured to generate RF energy to the elongated monopolar electrode; and a source of electromagnetic stimulation energy (EMagS) in the handpiece is configured to generate (EMagS) energy.
MEDICAL SYSTEMS, DEVICES, AND RELATED METHODS
A medical device system includes an insertion device and a medical device. The insertion device includes an insertion device handle, including a port on a handle body. The insertion device also includes an insertion device shaft extending from the insertion device handle. The insertion device shaft includes a working channel connected to the port. The medical device includes a medical device handle, including a movable handle portion and a stationary handle portion. The movable handle portion includes a ball portion movably positioned within a cavity in the stationary handle portion. The medical device also includes a medical device shaft. The medical device shaft is configured to be delivered through the port in the insertion device handle and through the working channel in the insertion device shaft. Movement of the movable handle portion relative to the stationary handle portion controls movement of a distal portion of the medical device shaft.
Methods of Treating and Preventing Cancer with Alternating Electric Fields, Radioactive Particles, and Systemic Therapy
Methods of treating and preventing cancer are provided. In some instances, the method comprises delivering radioactive particles to an organ of the subject, wherein the organ contains a tumor, applying alternating electric fields to the organ at a frequency of 50 kHz to 10 MHz (e.g., 50 kHz to 1 MHz or 80 to 500 kHz), and administering systemic cancer therapy to the subject.
Diffusing alpha-emitter radiation therapy for colon cancer
A method for treating a tumor, comprising identifying a tumor as a colon cancer tumor and implanting in the tumor identified as a colon cancer tumor, as least one diffusing alpha-emitter radiation therapy (DaRT) source with a suitable radon release rate and for a given duration, such that the source provides during the given duration a cumulated activity of released radon between 3.5 Mega becquerel (MBq) hour and 8.4 MBq hour, per centimeter length.
Endorectal probe device for effecting radiation treatment of colorectal cancerous tissue in the rectum of a human or animal subject
The invention relates to the radiation treatment of colorectal cancerous tissue in the rectum of a human or animal subject. In particular the invention relates to an endorectal probe device for effecting radiation treatment of colorectal cancerous tissue in the rectum of a human or animal subject. Furthermore the invention relates to an afterloading apparatus for effecting radiation treatment of colorectal cancerous tissue in the rectum of a human or animal subject using an endorectal probe device according to the invention. Moreover the invention relates to a method for effecting radiation treatment of colorectal cancerous tissue in the rectum of a human or animal subject, wherein the method implements the endorectal probe device according to the invention.
Systems and methods for closing portions of body tissue
A system for closing a blood vessel includes a housing having a proximal end and a distal end and configured to be held in the hand of a user, an elongate body extending from the distal end of the housing, a distal housing having a proximal end coupled to a distal end of the elongate body and having a cavity including an opening on a side of the distal housing, a lumen passing through the elongate body and terminating at the cavity of the distal housing and configured to couple to a vacuum source, a sensor carried by the distal housing adjacent the cavity and configured for identifying a blood vessel, wherein the lumen is configured to maintain a vacuum within the cavity when a probe having a vessel closure module is inserted within the lumen and the vessel closure module is within the cavity.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR COSMETIC TREATMENT OF HUMAN MUCOSAL TISSUE
A device for providing fractional treatment of a body orifice includes a source of fractionated energy and a source of electrical muscle (EMS) energy. A programmed controller controls the application of fractionated and/or EMS energy. A probe is inserted by its distal end into the body orifice. The source of fractionated energy is positioned for transmitting fractionated energy from the source of fractionated energy through the probe to tissue in the vicinity around the body orifice; and, the source of EMS is positioned for transmitting EMS energy from the source of EMS energy through the probe to tissue in the vicinity around the body orifice. The programmed controller is configured to control the activation of fractionated energy and EMS energy one of simultaneously or sequentially.
