System and method for non-invasive fat reduction
The cooling system cools a patient's tissue while applying suction to the skin and applying ultrasound waves to the tissue to reduce fat cells. The cooling applicator simultaneously provides suction, cooling, and ultrasound to the treatment area of the patient. The applicator connects to a suction to draw the tissue longitudinally into a cavity of the applicator. Cooling plates located laterally outward from the cavity cool the tissue during the treatment. A transducer located longitudinally above the cavity transmits ultrasound waves longitudinally downward into the cavity and the tissue. The ultrasound provides non-focused treatment such that the transducer transmits the ultrasound waves oriented horizontally and vertically longitudinally downward at the tissue. A treatment pad placed on the patient's skin directly contacts the patient such that the applicator does not directly contact the patient. The treatment pad is constructed from a fabric storing a glycerin gel, deionized water, and fructose.
SURGICAL INSTRUMENT WITH AUTOMATED ACTIVATION
A surgical instrument includes a housing having a shaft extending therefrom for supporting an end effector assembly. A handle is disposed on the housing and is selectively moveable relative thereto to actuate the end effector assembly. A PCB is disposed within the housing and includes one or more accelerometers and a timing circuit having a first timer. The accelerometer is configured to activate the first timer of the timing circuit upon detecting movement of the surgical instrument after the surgical instrument is coupled to an electrosurgical energy source. A deactivating assembly is disposed within the housing and is operably associated with the timing circuit such that after expiration of the first timer, the deactivation assembly mechanically decommissions the surgical instrument for continued or subsequent use.
Transluminal Device and Method for the Mechanical Characterisation of Structures
The invention describes a device comprising at least one emitter of P-waves and/or S-waves, preferably shear waves, more preferably axisymmetric waves, and at least one wave receiver, wherein the receiver or receivers are disposed concentrically, and the disposition of the emitters and receivers allows same to simultaneously come into direct contact with a specimen, the structure of which it is desired to characterise. Also described is a method for characterising the spatial distribution of mechanical parameters of a specimen, based on the emission of shear waves and the subsequent reception thereof.
Systems and methods for neurological traffic and/or receptor functional evaluation and/or modification
Systems and methods for controlled sympathectomy procedures for neuromodulation are disclosed. A system for controlled micro ablation procedures is disclosed. A guidewire including one or more sensors or electrodes for accessing and recording physiologic information from one or more anatomical sites within the parenchyma of an organ as part of a physiologic monitoring session, a diagnostic test, or a neuromodulation procedure is disclosed. A guidewire including one or more sensors and/or a means for energy delivery, for performing a neuromodulation procedure within a small vessel within a body is disclosed.
Device and method for in vivo detection of clots within circulatory vessels
A device and method of using the device to detect the presence and composition of clots and other target objects in a circulatory vessel of a living subject is described. In particular, devices and methods of detecting the presence and composition of clots and other target objects in a circulatory vessel of a living subject using in vivo photoacoustic flow cytometry techniques is described.
Tissue ablation and monitoring thereof
An ablation catheter including an elongate shaft, an inflatable balloon positioned at a distal region of the elongate shaft, a first ablation electrode disposed outside of and carried by an outer surface of the inflatable balloon, a first ultrasound transducer disposed outside of the inflatable balloon, and a flexible circuit. The flexible circuit includes a first conductor and a second conductor and is disposed outside of and carried by the outer surface of the inflatable balloon. The first conductor is in electrical communication with the first ablation electrode, and the second conductor in electrical communication with the first ultrasound transducer.
Method and System for Optimizing Return Electrode Location on the Body for Irreversible Electroporation (IRE) Procedures
The present disclosed subject matter provides a return electrode, such as a body surface electrode, which includes an accelerometer, for detecting movement of the body at and proximate to the location of the return electrode. The body movement results from pulses from an Irreversible Electroporation (IRE) pulse generator which are delivered to the return electrode, by a pulse delivery electrode. The data associated with the body movement at each location on the body of the return electrode, is used to determine suitable, and in some cases optimal, locations for return electrodes for IRE procedures.
ULTRASONIC ENERGY DEVICE WHICH VARIES PRESSURE APPLIED BY CLAMP ARM TO PROVIDE THRESHOLD CONTROL PRESSURE AT A CUT PROGRESSION LOCATION
Surgical instruments and system and methods for using surgical instruments are disclosed. A surgical instrument comprises an end effector comprising an ultrasonic blade and clamp arm, an ultrasonic transducer, and a control circuit. The ultrasonic transducer ultrasonically oscillates the ultrasonic blade in response to a drive signal from a generator. The end effector receives electrosurgical energy to weld tissue. The control circuit determines a resonant frequency measure indicative of a thermally induced change in resonant frequency and a electrical continuity measure; calculates a weld focal point based on the determined measures, controls closure of the clamp arm to vary a pressure applied by the clamp arm to provide a threshold control pressure to the tissue loaded into the end effector, and maintains a gap between the ultrasonic blade and clamp arm at a point proximal to the proximal end of the tissue. Pressure is varied based on corresponding weld focal point.
