Marchand advanced single port hysterectomy—a laparoscopic surgical technique
This disclosure is relative to the field of laparoscopic surgery and gynecologic surgery. Specifically disclosed is a surgical technique for laparoscopic hysterectomy and bilateral salpingectomy-oophorectomy which encompasses dissection and removal of the uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries. The technique utilizes a single-entry port located at the umbilicus in conjunction with access through the vaginal opening to access and manipulate the organs within the abdominal cavity.
SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS INCORPORATING ULTRASONIC, ELECTROSURGICAL, AND FLUID DELIVERY FUNCTIONALITY
A surgical system includes a fluid source, an ultrasonic transducer, an ultrasonic waveguide coupled to and extending distally from the ultrasonic transducer, and an ultrasonic blade disposed at a distal end of the ultrasonic waveguide and configured to receive ultrasonic energy produced by the ultrasonic transducer and transmitted along the ultrasonic waveguide to vibrate the ultrasonic blade for treating tissue therewith. The ultrasonic blade is configured to connect to a source of electrosurgical energy for conducting electrosurgical energy to tissue to treat tissue. The ultrasonic blade defines a lumen extending at least partially therethrough to at least one opening. The lumen is configured for fluid communication with a fluid source to enable the delivery of fluid from the fluid source through the lumen and out the at least one opening into a surgical site to facilitate electrosurgical tissue treatment.
Instrument for the coagulation and dissection of biological tissue and method for operating such an instrument
An instrument for coagulation and dissection of biological tissue including a tool with coagulation electrodes and at least one cutting electrode. The electrodes are actuated via an operating circuit including an evaluation circuit, to which an external apparatus delivers an evaluation signal with first and second half-waves having opposite polarities. During at least one first half-wave, the evaluation circuit checks whether a first switch or a second switch are actuated on the instrument. Depending on the evaluation result, a triggering signal is transmitted to a switching unit. Depending on the triggering signal, the switching unit is switched into a first or second switching state. In the second switching state, no voltage suitable for dissection and no current suitable for dissection, respectively, is applied to the cutting electrode. In the first switching state, a voltage suitable for dissection or a current suitable for dissection is applied to the cutting electrode.
Surgical instrument systems comprising battery arrangements
A surgical instrument system comprising a handle, a shaft, and a disposable power module is disclosed. The handle comprises a motor, a control switch, and a motor-control processor which is in communication with the control switch. In various instances, the disposable power module comprises a disposable battery and a display unit configured to indicate at least one function of the surgical instrument system.
MULTIFUNCTIONAL SURGICAL INSTRUMENT
A multifunctional surgical instrument (1) is provided. The multifunctional surgical instrument (1) comprises a proximal portion (13) and two legs (14), each leg comprising a distal end (11, 12), wherein a default position of the multifunctional surgical instrument is an open position, wherein the distal ends (11, 12) of the legs (14) do not meet in the open position, characterized in that each leg (14) comprises an aspiration half-channel (26, 27), the proximal portion (13) comprises an aspiration connection (29) and at least one of the distal ends (11, 12) comprises at least one aspiration orifice (28), wherein the two half-channels (26, 27) are configured to form an air-tight and water-tight continuous channel (25) connecting the at least one aspiration orifice (28) to the aspiration connection (29) when the multifunctional surgical instrument is in a fully closed position and are configured to open the aspiration channel (25) when the multifunctional surgical instrument is not in the fully closed position.
SURGICAL MULTI-TOOL AND METHOD OF USE
Surgical tool are disclosed that include a first tip and a second tip. The first tip and the second tip can have a first configuration, an intermediate configuration, and a second configuration. In the first configuration the tool operates as forceps and in the second configuration the tool operates as scissors. In the intermediate configuration the tool operates as a probe. The tips can be brought together to transition between the first configuration and the intermediate configuration. The tips can be rotated to transition between the intermediate configuration and the second configuration. Method are disclosed that include the step of providing a tool having a first tip extending distally and a second tip extending distally, moving at least one of the first tip and the second tip toward the other of the first tip and the second tip, and rotating the first tip and the second tip.
Forceps actuation systems
Forceps including a housing, a first body, a second body and a drive shaft. The first body has a passageway extending therethrough. The drive shaft extending through the passageway and connected to the first body such that the first body and the drive shaft are slidable with respect to the housing to drive jaws located at a distal portion of the drive shaft between an open position and a closed position. The second body having a second passageway. The drive shaft extending through the second passageway such that the second body is guided by the drive shaft and is slidable relative to the first body and the drive shaft to displace a blade shaft between a retracted position and an extended position.
TWO-STAGE ELECTROSURGICAL DEVICE FOR VESSEL SEALING
A forceps includes an end effector assembly with a first jaw having a tissue sealing surface and an electrode on the sealing surface, and a second jaw having a tissue sealing surface and an electrode on the sealing surface. The first jaw and the second jaw move between an open position and a closed position. The sealing surface of at least one of the first jaw and the second jaw has a flexible medial section and rigid lateral sections.
Grasping treatment device
A jaw of a grasping treatment device includes a non-contact portion having a space between it and a distal treatment section in a state where an abutment portion abuts on the distal treatment section, and the non-contact portion includes a wall surface portion inclined so that it is extended toward a distal treatment section side as it is extended away from the abutment portion. A movement regulating portion is provided in a region of the non contact portion located closer to the abutment portion than a continuous surface which forms an edge of the non-contact portion. The movement regulating portion located in the first wall surface portion regulates a movement of a grasp object along the jaw axis direction.
