A peripheral light-emitting linear light guide member is composed of an optical fiber including a core having an outer periphery surface exposed from a cladding at one end in a longitudinal direction, and a light-scattering member covering an entire periphery of the outer periphery surface at an exposed portion of the core over a predetermined axial length range. The light-scattering member scatters a light emitted from the outer periphery surface of the core. In the light-scattering member, light-scattering particles are dispersion-mixed with an optically transparent base material having a higher refractive index than a refractive index of the core. An amount of the light-scattering particles around an outer periphery of the core is higher at a distal end of the light-scattering member than at an end closer to the cladding.

The optical waveguide has a first end that is connectable or assignable to the light source and the diffuser element is arranged at a second end of the optical waveguide so that light from the optical waveguide is injected into the optical element. The optical element has a lateral surface covered by a reflector layer at least in a section thereof. The reflector layer includes a mirror layer. The optical element has a light-reflecting area covered by the reflector layer and a light-transmissive area that is free of the reflector layer. Thus, light injected into the optical element is reflected on the light-reflecting area and emitted from the light-transmissive area.

HAIR CUTTING DEVICE AND HAIR CUTTING SYSTEM
20220387104 · 2022-12-08 ·

A hair cutting device according to the present disclosure comprises an optical waveguide. The optical waveguide comprises a light irradiator. The light irradiator irradiates hair protruding from the skin with light to cut the hair. The refractive index of the light irradiator is smaller than the refractive index of the surface of the skin. As a result, options such as the material of the optical waveguide and the like can be increased. Furthermore, for example, when the skin is appropriately irradiated with light from the light irradiator, an action on the skin such as sterilization or activation can also be expected.

A hair cutting member includes a light emitting module and a connecting member. The light emitting module includes an optical waveguide including a core, and a retaining member retaining the optical waveguide with at least a portion of the core being exposed so as to apply light to hair growing on a skin. The connecting member is integrally joined to the light emitting module with the connecting member retaining an end of the optical waveguide, and positions the core with respect to light introduced into the optical waveguide. The connecting member is mechanically connectable to a connection target. The core is configured so that light is introduced from an end thereof that faces the connection target. The technology of the present disclosure improves ease of assembly of a hair cutting member, a device body of a hair cutting device, and a hair cutting device.

Multi-spot laser probe with multiple single-core fibers

The present disclosure relates to a laser probe assembly coupled to a laser system through an optical fiber cable. In one example, the laser probe assembly comprises a probe tip coupled to the probe body, the probe tip housing multiple fibers. Each of the multiple fibers comprises a proximal end that couples to the laser system and a distal end that terminates in the probe tip, a single core for transporting a laser beam provided by the laser system, and a cladding surrounding the core. The laser probe assembly also comprises a lens for projecting multiple laser beams provided by the multiple fibers on to a surgical site. Within the probe tip, parts of outer surfaces of portions of any two adjacent fibers of the multiple fibers touch. Also, the multiple fibers are at least substantially centered with respect to the lens.

Side-fire laser system with stand-off catheter, standoff catheter, and method of using surgical laser to achieve both tissue vaporization and rapid coagulation to prevent or halt bleeding

A side-firing laser system with a standoff catheter includes an optical fiber configured to emit therapeutic laser radiation in a direction generally transverse to an axis of the fiber; and a catheter through which the optical fiber is inserted during a surgical procedure. The catheter includes a transparent end section through which the therapeutic laser radiation passes to vaporize tissue outside the catheter, an open distal end to permit exit of irrigation fluid from the catheter, and an opening in a side of the end section, the opening having dimensions that are approximately equal to or less than cross-sectional dimensions of the therapeutic laser radiation. When the fiber is moved to a position at which the therapeutic laser radiation passes through the opening, the laser radiation causes coagulation or vaporization of tissues.
