The insertion system includes a hub or an introducer sheath with a hub, the insertion device, and an insertion device protection apparatus. The insertion device protection apparatus includes at least two elongate protective covers detachably engaged to each other and defining a channel extending through a length of the insertion device protection apparatus for enclosing the insertion device therewithin before, and/or during, and/or after inserting the insertion device into the insertion site. The elongate protective covers are progressively disengaged from each other from a proximal end and/or a distal end of the insertion device protection apparatus before, and/or during, and/or after insertion of the insertion device into the insertion site.

Mobile selection system and treatment carriage

The invention relates to a mobile selection system for selecting medical accessories comprising a control system, a user interface and a treatment cart. The treatment cart comprises a plurality of storage devices each having at least two storage areas for a respective accessory type. The control system thereby implements a selection method having the following method steps. The treatment identifier of the treatment to be performed is determined in one method step via the user interface. In a further method step, a plurality of accessory set parameters which characterize a medical accessory set are determined on the basis of an accessory database and on the basis of the treatment identifier of the treatment to be performed. The treatment cart comprises a release mechanism, wherein the control system is designed to control the release mechanism so as to release those medical accessories for which at least one of the storage devices comprises storage area for their accessory types and which are characterized by the accessory set parameters on which the control is based.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PREVENTING WRONG-SITE SURGERIES

A system and related methods of preventing wrong-site surgeries and blade-related injuries to OR personnel, which includes a computer software system (for use on computers or hand-held devices in the medical environment) in combination with a surgical supply carrier (such as a safety blade-dispenser or other surgical sharps dispenser). The surgical supply carrier comprises at least one component, such as a label, which prevents or impedes a surgeon from accessing one or more surgical instruments stored within until after a “time-out” is performed by the surgeon or authorized OR personnel to confirm various details including but not limited to correct patient, correct procedure, correct equipment, etc, before starting the intended surgical procedure. Data can be captured throughout the medical environment (from “decision-to-incision” and beyond) to assess wrong-site surgery data (including “near miss” data) and enable a host of analytics on wrong-site surgery prevention.

Quick Release Tourniquet Carrier

The present invention describes a carrier that encases a tactical tourniquet, attaches to the user or the user's gear, and allows a person to quickly access the tourniquet to stop or slow traumatic bleeding. One embodiment comprises an open top half and an open bottom half which connect to encase the tourniquet. Each of the top half and bottom half are removably connected and are held together with a compressive band. Tourniquet rip cords extend through the carrier and may be pulled by the user. To access the tourniquet, the user pulls the carrier from the compressive band by pulling a rip cord. The carrier halves immediately fall apart after they are free from the compressive band, leaving the tourniquet available for immediate use.
