Automated endoscope reprocessing unit with in-line peracetic acid sensor

An apparatus and process to clean medical devices, such as endoscopes, that includes an automatic endoscope reprocessor system equipped with a peracetic acid/hydrogen peroxide sensor are described.

RADIO FREQUENCY IDENTIFICATION PROCESS INDICATOR AND READER

Disclosed embodiments can pertain to process indicator enhancements. A process indicator can include a dye material that has electrical properties such as conductivity and capacitance that can be employed to determine whether observed conditions are acceptable or not to sterilize medical equipment. Furthermore, the indicators can employ amplification, a specialized antenna, or both to allow signals, such as an electronic property value, to be communicated through sterilization containers that can shield or degrade signals. A number and location of indicators can also be determined and utilized to assist in visual inspection of the indicators as well as automatic evaluation.

SMART CARTRIDGE WAKE UP OPERATION AND DATA RETENTION

An electronic system for a surgical instrument is disclosed. The electronic system comprises a main power supply circuit configured to supply electrical power to a primary circuit. A supplementary power supply circuit configured to supply electrical power to a secondary circuit. A short circuit protection circuit coupled between the main power supply circuit and the supplementary power supply circuit. The supplementary power supply circuit is configured to isolate itself from the main power supply circuit when the supplementary power supply circuit detects a short circuit condition at the secondary circuit. The supplementary power supply circuit is configured to rejoin the main power supply circuit and supply power to the secondary circuit, when the short circuit condition is remedied.

COMPOSITION FOR PRODUCTION OF A TEST SOIL FOR ASSESSMENT OF THE CLEANING ACTION OF CLEANING DEVICES AND USE THEREOF

A composition may include, in dry form: (a) nigrosin; (b) wheat flour; and (c) whole egg. Such compositions may be used for production of test soil for assessment of the cleaning action of cleaning devices. Methods of producing a test soil for assessment of the cleaning action of cleaning devices for cleaning of vessels for human egesta, e.g., of washer-disinfectors, including dissolving the composition in an aqueous medium. A test soil may include the constituents of the composition in an aqueous medium, and such soils may be used for assessment of the cleaning action of cleaning devices. A method may assess the cleaning action of cleaning devices for cleaning of vessels for human egesta.

A lumen inspection device includes an elongate member and a sealing member at a distal end of the elongate member. The elongate member is inserted into a lumen of a medical instrument. The lumen inspection device is translated along the lumen. The sealing member resiliently bears against a sidewall of the lumen as the lumen inspection device is translated along the lumen of the medical instrument. A pressure source is activated to pressurize a region of the lumen adjacent to the sealing member. A fluid property of the lumen is monitored to detect whether the sealing member deforms in response to an obstruction in the lumen.

A soil-based coupon having an electronically readable verification code printed thereon is used for verification of soil removal by a cleaning process. The coupon includes a soil overlay covering the verification code. The verification code is at least partially revealed by removal of all or part of the soil overlay during the cleaning process. If the data encoded in the verification code can be correctly decoded after completion of the cleaning process, the cleaning process can be verified. The soil overlay can be designed to match the application. The coupons may be used in a cleaning process verification procedure in which one or more computing devices analyze images of the verification codes to determine whether or not cleaning processes can be verified.
