Fabric-Based Items With Stretchable Bands
A fabric-based item may be provided with a stretchable band. The stretchable band may be formed from a ring-shaped strip of stretchable fabric having an opening configured to fit around a body part of a user. Circuitry may be coupled to strands of material in the stretchable band. The circuitry may include sensor circuitry for making measurements on the body part such as electrocardiogram measurements, blood pressure measurements, and respiration rate measurements. Wireless communications circuitry in the fabric-based item may be used to communicate wirelessly with external electronic equipment. A wireless power transmitting device may transmit wireless power. A coil formed from conductive strands in the fabric-based item may be used by wireless power receiving circuitry in the fabric-based item to receive the wireless power. The coil may have one or more turns that run around the ring-shaped strip of stretchable fabric.
REFLECTIVE VIDEO DISPLAY APPARATUS FOR INTERACTIVE TRAINING AND DEMONSTRATION AND METHODS OF USING SAME
A method includes capturing, using an Internet of Things (IoT) device, real-time video of a user performing an exercise associated with a first exercise class. Real-time video of the user is displayed, via a display, concurrently with video of an instructor, to provide a visual comparison of the user to the instructor. Image analysis of the real-time video of the user is performed to determine a performance of the user, and a representation thereof is displayed. Biometric data associated with the user is received at the IoT device from a wearable device at multiple points in time. Heart rates are identified based on the biometric data, and scores based on the heart rates are displayed via the display. A recommendation for a second exercise class different from the first exercise class is determined based on a profile of the user, and displayed via the display.
INTRAORAL DEVICE
There is provided a device for measuring fatigue of a person, the device comprising a frame configured to be worn within the mouth of the person, a microphone mounted within the frame and configured to measure sound data, and a cavity located within the frame and adjacent to the microphone, wherein the cavity does not communicate with the environment surrounding the frame. There is also provided a computer-implemented method for determining a fatigue metric representing a level of physical fatigue of a person
LOW-POWER CONTACTLESS PHYSIOLOGICAL SENSOR
A system-on-chip contactless physiological sensor (10) is provided which comprises a capacitive-sensor electrode (14) having a first capacitance (C1) and an amplifier device (18) connected to the capacitive-sensor electrode (14), the capacitive-sensor electrode (14) and amplifier device (18) at least in part forming an amplifier circuit for the physiological sensor (10). An artefact-reducing capacitor (20) is then connected in series between the capacitive-sensor electrode (14) and an input of the amplifier device (18), the artefact-reducing capacitor (20) having a second capacitance (C2) which is less than the first capacitance (C1). In this sensor (10), there is no impedance boosting input between the capacitive-sensor electrode (14) and the input of the amplifier device (18).
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR NEAR-FIELD COMMUNICATION
Methods and systems for a near-field communication. In one aspect, a method of fabricating a relay for a near-field communication system comprises the steps of providing a flexible substrate; and providing an electric circuit on the flexible substrate, wherein the electric circuit comprises a hub inductor pattern configured to receive and transmit via electro-magnetic induction; one or more terminal inductor patterns laterally spaced apart from the hub inductor pattern relative to a surface of the flexible substrate and configured to receive and transmit via electro-magnetic induction; and a connecting trace between the hub inductor and the one or more terminal inductors.
Systems, methods, and computer-program products for assessing athletic ability and generating performance data
Methods, systems, and computer-program products used for assessing athletic ability and generating performance data. In one embodiment, athlete performance data is generated through computer-vision analysis of video of an athletic performing, e.g., during practice or gameplay. The generated performance data for the athlete may include, for example, maximum speed, maximum acceleration, time to maximum speed, transition time (e.g., time to change direction), closing speed (e.g., time to close the distance to another athlete), average separation (e.g., between the athlete and another athlete), play-making ability, athleticism (e.g., a weighted computation and/or combination of multiple metrics), and/or other performance data. This performance data may be used to generate and/or update a profile associated with the athlete, which can be utilized for recruiting, scouting, comparing, and/or assessing athletes with greater efficiency and precision.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR ISCHEMIC PRE-CONDITIONING USING EXERCISE
The various embodiments of the present invention provide a system and method for a fully mobile, non-invasive, continuous system for monitoring the cardiovascular and musculoskeletal health of an individual during exercise, and for administering a protocol for ischemic pre-conditioning. The system includes a wearable devices affixed on the user with a chest strap, coupled with an application running on a computing device (smartphone/smartwatch), which performs various computations on the wearable device, and allows the user to get real time alerts during exercise, by way of vibrations or audio messages or notifications on the gateway device, to guide them through a protocol for ischemic pre-conditioning.
Optic Nerve Head Oxygen Perfusion as a Real Time Biomarker for Traumatic Brain Injury
Methods are provided for measuring real-time concussive and vascular brain injuries, within seconds of the incident, by using a cascading decrease of optic nerve oxygen perfusion as captured by the retina oximetry, which is representative of inherent processes taking place within the brain subsequent to various degrees of cranial insult. The methods presented herein provide for establishing baseline databases and protocols that are intended to set standards for testing and protecting athletes on the field of play and creating emergency guidelines for early treatment of cerebrovascular accidents. Further, methods of investigation presented herein are capable of creating a database of demographically representative values, that are intended to provide statistical norms significant to demographics, such as age, sex, race, location, and athletic endeavors both at rest and within an active athletic state.
